Violating Early Decision

So say i applied early decision to a college, then the stock market crashed (very possible) and i couldn't pay all that money and wanted to opt out of my ED contract, what penalties/consequences do i face?

Your highschool gets blacklisted and wont be allowed to place anymore students on ED at that school.
Its really your counselor who gets the shit end, not so much you.

i think that you have a very hard time getting into other colleges b/c they will see that you backed out on an early decision and that is a big no no in the college app world
