Marker Griffon Bindings

not as durable as the jester, but well worth the $$$

i got those same exact skis but i put jesters on them and they work super, the jesters work great i dont know about the barons but pretty similar binding the barons are gonna have more plastic and be a little lighter with less din made for smaller people.

So i should go with them on both skis?
And yea i dont really need a 16 din either

y not? No other binding has a wider footprint on skis...its $$$

See what i dont get is this wide footprint gimmick.  The pattern in the heel is in fact thinner than most other bindings, and the toe is just about as wide as a solly or look toe.

this is true braddah...the screw holes actually are the same as any other binder...but.....the platform and toe lugg of the binding grabs 78mm of your boot, and sits on 78mm of your ski...thus giving you better leverage for your fattys especially anything over 100millies...

78mm is the widest any of the binding companies will ever produce, unless the entire ski/boot industry changes the dimensions of the ASTM standards for boot luggs/binders. If anything, we will be seeing other companies widening their binding platform to something very similar to the Jester/Dukes....just my $.02.

Why not search, it's not that hard!
If the new one doesn't work for you, then use the advanced/old one!
I know there have been threads asking for peoples opinion on Griffons compared to Jesters etc

Ok basically I am also looking at these bindings too and I have searchbarred and found nothing solid on them. From what I have read, the only changes from the Jester are:
- 12 DIN Spring
- Plastic rather than metal in the toe wings
- Reduced weight.
Concerning durability, as far as I know, nobody on here has skied them. If someone has, then please let us know if you had any problems. I am 5'8 and 140 pounds and looking at these or STH12s to go on my Rockers/Jibs.. Can someone confirm/correct the above?

everything you said is CORRECT...how bout you try www.markerusa.com, get the binding and try something other than the sth, or look/rossi/dynastar, especially if you are going to by a max.12DIN binder.

Im going with the griffon over the jester, and I can get an amazing deal on either of em working at a shop....

Im 5'8" and 170 lbs, but I have never set my din over 9.5 and I release just fine with my old ass Rossi Axial 120s.

We have both bindings in my shop, and the toepiece isnt the only difference.....anywhere on the binding that is silver instead of gold is the difference.  The toe piece wings are plastic, and in the heelpiece the silver bards are plastic too.

^ im in the same position as this guy. i chose the griffon becuase i will never set my bindings higher than 12 and the fact that even though the griffons have some plastic parts, they are still going to be awesome and hold up great. marker has been making bindings just as long as everyone else and if they felt that plastic wouldnt hold up okay then they wouldnt have used it.

How can you determine the long term durability of a binding thats not even out yet

Er.. no.

The Griffons have more plastic, and use far less metal than the jester, and therefore, are not the same as the jester. they have a similar mold, but thats about all it is.

I used them last spring on a volkl demo day, where my volkl rep had recieved a pair, and mounted up his walls with them. I tried them out because we have a similar BSL. They were nice and light, and had a good wide platform, but even when I cranked them up to about 10 or 11, they would prerelease, even at my low weight. I didnt have this problem last year when I rode my coworker's bridges mounted with jesters.

If you're doing a lot of jibbing, weigh over 150/160lbs, or just ski really hard to begin with, go with the jesters, or something else.

Sidenote: Marker might have been making bindings forever, but they have also been only making decent park/freeride bindings for one season. Before this last season, the only bindings I'd ever use from marker would be comp 16's, because everything else was complete garbage, and would fall apart, pre-release, or tear your knees off. I'd choose just about anything made by look or tyrolia over a marker binding with the biometric toe.
