Panasonic GS320     wondering if anyone on NS had this camera or if anyone has any sudjestions for other cameras with a manual focus bugt not very expensive

Manual focus ring's have sorta disappeared on consumer cameras. It's a shame, but the truth is, the typical consumer doesn't use them.

On a GS320, the 1/6 inch ccd's are going to give you insanely long depth of field, so a focus ring will only be practical in a rare situations. For a few bucks more you could get a lovely HV30 with insane picture quality. While it lacks the focus ring, it does have a focus wheel (kinda weak) but it gives you the ability to lock focus in place and such.

yeah i though the same thing before I got mine. they have a manual focus through the zoom bar on top.

camera's dope though. the color is amazing for a consumer cam.

nvm. it was just with the joystick on the back of the camera for menu functions. sorry my bad. but still. pretty functional

I was thinking of something else with the zoom bar. but to use the manual focus, there is a switch on the right side of the camera for man. vs. auto focus, and once the manual focus is on, a diagram pops up like a menu on the screen and you can control the focus via the joystick on the backside of the camera as if shuffling through menus.

yeah the color is a lot deeper than other consumer cameras as it is a 3 chip camera so the color quality is really good for the price. if you don't have enough to get into the nicer cameras, I definitely would recommend this camera because it gives you a lot of bang for the buck so to speak.
