k2 rant is pretty sick. It is lightweight and lets you wear a beanie under it. It also is more of a skate design, so it doesnt really interfere as much

k2 helmets are horribel imo becasue they fit really weird on top of your head and i had the indy and it fell apart right out of the box

Giro and POC both make good helmets, POC is rather expensive though

It's gonna be really hard to find an unbiased answer because of the way someone's head is shaped compared to the helmet. So just go down to your local shop and try them on and see what fits best. Some good quality brands though are K2 (I rock one, they're awesome), Giro, Bern, Smith, and most likely anything they sell in your shop. Those were just a few names I can promise won't disappoint you.

Sweet Protection and POC are the top of the pile in my view but quite pricey. Below that there's Giro and Smith. Then Bern and R.E.D.
As for Protec, you'd be better off hollowing out a pumpkin and sticking it on your head quite frankly.
You get what you pay for and its your head...

Giro is my favourite, I hear good things about Sweet protection as well and I really like how the POCs look, don't know how they fit.

tbh, i dont understand the point of the bern "hardhats"
why would you wear something that isnt certified as a helmet?
sure they look dope, but i rather wear something that will protect me.
what is the point?

they are marketed toward people who dont like helmets, and they are still very protective, they just dont have the industry standards that a certified helmet has to live up too

i have one, they still protect pretty well, but its a different kind of foam made for repeated impacts. regular helmets are made to be thrown out after one big hit, but one of these can take many more and still be just as protective. i took a few big falls with mine last season, one i caught an edge on a rail and fell right on my head, and i was fine.

yeah my protec mercenary is sick. are you talking about the classic skate helmets? cuz i think their snow helmets are pretty much on par with all the other big companies.
