Detuning edges: problem, please help

so my new ar6's edges were pretty sharp so I used a file to detune them (theyre my park ski, and i tend to do a lot of rails).  i did an ok job on most of the ski, its not perfect but it works. 
the problem is, I went a little to far on one section of the edge (back right) and dulled/rounded it out pretty bad.  how much are your edges supposed to be detuned for park?  how much is too much?

as of now, im planning on just taking them into the shop and telling the shop to fix them up.  however, if theyre detuned much, this could be tough....

advice?  thoughts?  help?  +karma....

Purely preferential. I'd say if they're pure park skis, then your edges aren't too important.

well their pretty much purely park skis but i want them to at least be able to hold an edge out of the park...  im just worried cause most of them are dulled and then this one section is totally rounded out.  if i took them into the shop chances are they might have to use a basegrinder to get at the totally rounded one, which is what Im worried about.

how dull are edges supposed to be if the skis are mostly for park?

i usually just wait till i wear down my edges but i think ull be perfectly fine

I don't see the point of detuning your skis.  If you slide rails when you first ride them, they will detune perfectly after a day or two.

wait until you ski them, and they will probably be fine, but if you really don't like them you can always get 'em re-tuned later.

never use a file to detune your edges, only use a gummy stone

I detune the shit of of my jib skis now. Like completly rounded underfoot and a good detune for the rest of the ski. I like the edges nice and forgiving. File if fine to use, finish with a gummy.

If your shop will do it for you on a belt grinder that's a lot faster but make sure the guy doing it is a jibber himself (skier/snowboarder, doesn't matter) or he won't understand what you want.

yea, if your bindings are on the ski, go a bit past them on either end. for holding an edge its important for the edges to be sharp that the widest points (tip and tail, not sure of the technical term for this right now). underfoot doesnt matter too much for holding an edge, it still matters though lol just not as much as the wide parts.

because if you just hit rails on them when they are super sharp they catch. and that cracks your edges which eventually leads to them pulling out.

underfood is the most important part of the ski for holding an edge....which is why my park skis cant hold an edge for shit

absolutely wrong. Underfoot is the most important part while turning. When I detune my park/jib skis, i use a fine file to detune the underfoot very little. After a bunch of rail hits, the underfoot is almost perfectly detuned.

yeah well my skis are pretty detuned except for the back left of one which is really rounded out...  how bad does it hold an edge when it is that dull?  i guess i could just ski that as the outside edge and it wouldnt matter as much...
ill ski on them and if theyre super bad ill take them in to get retuned, but one shop guy said theyre so dull he might not be able to get the edge back...

but oh well, theyre park skis, good lesson in detuning though

ive found that if you detune them, you wont get edge breks as bad, and theywear down at a more even rate. but maybe im just crazy
