Alright so all my roommates are heading out on Friday morning to Bozeman, MT to visit some friends at MSU. Were splitting up into two groups of 2 and racing there. The weather isn't going to be good, the forecast calls for 15-20 degrees at night and snow. We have 0 degree sleeping bags and tents. Has anyone ever hitchhiked this far before? I dunno I'm just a little nervous. just looking on some imput to wether or not im retarded for doing this. Maybe some tips aswell.

I dont know if there is a freight train that runs between the two, but my ex boyfriend used to take those. He said you jump onto them when they are going around bends because they have to slow down a lot. He traveled all over the country doing that about 4 years ago.
But then again, it was summer.
However, people in Montana are super nice and from what I noticed hitchhiking seemed really common.

"hey if it will get me a couple hundred miles across the country, i'll take a shot in the mouth"
"yeah, but we ain't gay"
"don't be soooo suburban, its the new millenium, gay straight, its all the same now. There are no more lines..."
"well there's a line and on this side of it... we ain't gay."
" Hey, all the hitches do this, why do you think people pick us up.If you get a ride its expected, i don't care who the driver is. its the first rule in the book."
"what book?"
"the unwritten book of the road."

I'm sure it'll work out, at least it's clear you're skiers and not hobos. I did a lot of hitching to get to town and back from the pacific crest trail and I was about as filthy as you can get.
