Replying to I got scammed into buying a home theatre system
its embarrassing but here goes
the other day i was driving along on 8 mile road west of detroit, and its another story but there were some interesting events that led to me being in the specific place i was at the specific time i was there. so these guys start yelling at me from a pickup truck, after i turn down my radio i figure out there saying something about a home theatre system and they want me to pull over. i know how sketchy that sounds and on any other day i would have kept on driving.
to understand why on that particular day i did decide to pull over you have to understand that about 6 months ago, my buddy that was living with me in aspen last season hooked up a bunch of speakers and a subwoofer to my stereo reciever and cranked all the way up and fried it. at the time i was moving back to michigan for the summer and i didnt have a lot of cash and i was working all the time at home so i didnt miss having a nice stereo that much. but now im heading back to aspen in a week for one more season. and i have some money in the bank so i had cashed my most recent paycheck intending on taking the cash with me to shop for a new reciever. so between that, the circumstances that led me to being at that place at that time, and the joint i had just smoked, i was pretty sure god was talking to me.
look up white van speakers on wikipedia or something and you can see exactly how the rest went\
they showed me a legit looking catalogue listing the set at 5000 dollars i checked the boxes and the shit looked top of the line. they gave me a story like the one on wikipedia and i had already fallen so hard for it i didnt even pay attention to what they were saying, i just figured they were stolen or something and it seemed so right. now i realize i was being kinda greedy and well, i got fucked for it. they sold me the genesis media labs g608.
the wierd part is when i got home and found out it was a scam i was so heartbroken i didnt even set it up for like a week, but i finally did today and it actually sounds decent, but im no speaker buff. and ithe speaker boxes are really nice, it looks like it could have cost 5000. anyways they obviously payed less than 450 for it.
so in the end i lost 450 but i learned a valuable lesson that could have cost me more had i learned it later in life
