Well the leaves are changing, the temperatures are getting colder, and precipitation still comes in the form of rain. That can only mean one thing .... it's about time for a pre-season rail jam. If my math serves me correctly, OCTOBER 19 serves as the 5th annual Flying Penguin Jibfest. All afternoon, beginning around 12 p.m., we will have a feature set up outside the shop for both skiers and snowboarders, along with some music, grilling, 2009 products, and good times.
So what's in store for this year?
The 2008 Jibfest has been in the works since early summer, with emphasis being put on a better feature, and increased lap times for riders. This years feature will be an up-down box, approximately 8 inches wide. Based off of this: http://www.vimeo.com/371993 (I don't have a digi-camera, and I'm trying to load my camera pictures of our feature onto my computer).
Also, we plan on having a deeper deck up top to house many more riders to quicken the flow of traffic. The in run is also --planning-- on being double-wide, which will then split off to have one route hit the feature straight on, while another route will hit just the down part of the box (think the 2008 x-games 1st hit trap box kinda feel).
In the past, there has been predominantly more snowboard sponsors compared to little, if any, ski sponsors. This year Atomic will be sending shwag, and there's a good possibility the rep will be there to give stuff out also. We're also waiting to hear back on some more prospects also.
It's late, and I'm not sure if I have covered it all, so if there's any questions please ask. More than likely there will be more to follow----especially concerning the competition details.
Cordially,
The Penguin that flies.
