I'm pretty sure the kid who posted the "Karma is stupid" thread didn't mention this idea, and I hope not cuz i didn't read it. But wouldnt it be logical for the people who rate other people be automatically required to give a reason why they rated that person in a little "Karma Message" format? I think that might make a low or high Karma rating more easily understood for the user.

That would only lead to people taking away karma from anyone who took it away from them...it would be hard not to. The karma system has to stay anonymous, otherwise it won't work. Also, I think that people would rarely use it if you always had to type a message every time you lowered somebody.

it could be as simple as just sending you a message everytime your karma has been altered by someone but not give the name of the person. then when you check the list it will direct oyu to the post where you lost your karma points so you can see 'oh yea i am a fucktard'
