So after seeing countless threads ragging on mccain and palin, i came up with a few things that obama is all about, maybe it will change some of ur minds on voting for him, maybe not? I just thought id share some of this with u. Try not to make any arguements, just read it and post ur opinions, and lemme know if it has changed ur mind at all

-voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out of state abortions. personally im against abortions all together, but if i had a daughter and she went and got an abortion and i wasnt notified about it, i would not be happy about that.

-supports affirmative action in colleges and governments quotas. IMO, affrimative action was great for minorities a while back, but cmon now, i really dont think its necessary to give them advantages anymore, whatever happened to us being all equal?

-says he will deal with street level drug dealing at a minimum wage affair.

-admitted to his use of marijuana and cocaine in both highschool and college

- his religious views seem very sketchy, and seems like hes hiding something (which most if not all politicians do hide certain things)

- says after being elected his first goal would be to meet with all muslim nations....why?

- opposes the patriot act

- voted to allow lawsuits against gun manufacturers

- supports universal healthcare

- voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo prisoners

- supports granting drivers liscense to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!? is that serious?

- supports extending welfare to ILLGEAL IMMIGRANTS!? i dont want my hard earned money going to anyone trying to take advantage of our countries system

- voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform

- voted yes on allowing ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS to participate in social security

- opposed to any efforts to privatize social security and instead, supports incrasing the amount of tax paid into Soc. Sec. yes, he wants to increase taxes

- voted no on repealing the alternative minimum tax which now hits the middle income brackets, another tax increase

- wants to raise the capital gains tax, another tax increase

i just found alot of this interesting, and thought some of u might as well

seriously guys, let's stop the hate, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, disagree with them if you want, debate them if you want, but don't just call people morons if you aren't making any valid points yourself.  I'm not calling anyone in particular out, it's more of a general satement.

I personally am in favor of Obama for many of the reasons you don't like him Jay_Dope.
The point I disagree with you most on is the one about Habeas Corpus.

But I think that a lot of people should chill out here, why can't people have their own opinions.  I'm not just talking about republicans or just democrats.

And please, don't post bullshit "facts" on either candidate, or anything / anyone for that matter.

hes talking about a communist redistribution of wealth. aka making everyone equal, eliminating any class gap. thats not going to happen. raising taxes for the rich isnt going to change the gap. mebbe shrink it a tiny bit. (its huge right now) but not eliminate it. hes not a fucking communist.

when did i say he's a communist? chill out. class gaps have existed hundreds, if not thousands of years. its pointless to try to change it...people who work hard and earn money should have it in their pocket, not someone else's. that's my view.

no, its more of a redistribution of wealth along socialist lines. the fact that Obama says he's not going to tax the middle class is the greatest fallacy of this whole election. A bigger deal than Ayers or any of that other bullshit I've been seeing on the news. Obama can only make our current problem worse. Maybe some of your endagered poor will get some more benefits, but society as a whole will be worse off.

in fairness, that is glen beck, not exactly the most middle ground of commentators. and i fail to see how its really socialist as well. perhaps mildly, but its not as if hes entirely abolishing the class gap.

i dont know what a fair percentage would be, more than they are currently paying though.
and i would certainly consider anyone making more than 200k (the group that obama would tax) as rich. depending on where you live i would say as low as 100k or more per year would be "rich" perhaps not filthy rich, but i would say rich.

That's the federal tax rate. You fail to factor in all the other taxes such as state taxes, city taxes, social security, and property taxes. In many places around the US its easily over 50%.

I'm saying its unfair to raise federal taxes even further for people paying huge amounts in state taxes, over people in other states that have no state tax. If taxes were raised to say 60% for these people, what is the incentive to even work hard enough to earn over 200k? They'll barely be making more than those in the tax bracket below them.

He hasnt said he would raise them to 60%. (im assuming you mean total not just his) it would be just over 50%. None of these families are exactly being "taxed to death" right now. also were failing to take into account untaxable money like retirement accounts etc. so the incentive to make more money is certainly still there.

ok well despite whatever anyone wants to believe or not, most of the liberals believe all the conspiracies against the republicans and all i have to say is all the shit that is being said about obama is fucking true you cant look through the fucking truth. the guy works with and is friends with way to many interesting individuals such as mr. aryes(sp) and tony reeeeezzzkoo plus about another 15 people... acorn for christ sake fannie mae for christ sake jesus this is shit that is all true and proven. obama took mad loot from fanny mae a company that fucked over a large amount of people in the U.S. i mean shit the two people that are his financial advisor were the two highest paid government employees in the history of america, these 2 cats were makin like 90 million a year how that helps people i dont know. im drunk sorry hate all you want but this guy is a crook.


oh ya not to mention how can you be born in 2 different hospitals and oh all of a sudden his brother in kenya who he doesnt even acknowledge as his brother is rich as fuck (this can all be proven if you look it up) ya people are being paid off to keep their mouths closed. ya just about all of his families bank accounts have went waaaaaaaayy up in the last couple of months.. kinda weird.

I DO NOT MAKE 100k per year and I lose OVER 40% in FED, STATE,COUNTY and LOCAL taxes.

No more taxes. Do some simple math.

60k/12=5k per month.

Now do a simple household FAMILY budget - House, car, utilities, insurance, food, clothing, etc

I'll start it off.  2k=~200k house mortgage

Sometimes, as a person of the world outside of the USA, I feel like saying something about the USA and more often than not it is a big FUCK YOU!!! Catch Aids and Die. Then other times I think there might be hope and then I see some old lady on the news calling Obama an Arab and it makes me laugh, then cry miserably. Then I realise by me laughing/crying at that means that I too have falling for the trap of actually thinking anythings could ever change. Even mentioning the Laffer Curve makes your viewpoint irrelevant. The Laffer Curve works in very select situations, not right now. It is a vehicle to suck people of average intelligence into believing lower taxes are always the best method. Reagan bought into it and lived by it, now you do (Yes that was time where federal taxes were too high, but the economy was just served up to him on a plate after the recession of the early 1980s). I wouldn't want to be in the same intelligence level as Reagan. That community college education is really paying off well.

Hint for the future, any time you are trying to sound smart and want to prove a stance that lowered taxes are correct, don't use the Laffer Curve, it shows people you are full of shit and have no concept of what's going on.
