why are you stoked on it? this won't do anything to solve the long line ups on weekends. people who want to ski the peak are going to ski all the way to the bottom because it's a longer run and the olympic chair lets you ski more terrain than the new peak exclusive chair.
the cut lines are going to be as outrageous as ever, if not more so, because people will have heard that grouse has "TWO NEW QUAD CHAIRS!!!". once they realize that they are ultimately useless (albeit pre-season and minimal snow) they will continue to ski down to the cut chair. this means disaster as usual for those of us who only use the screaming eagle as a means to get back up to the park.
on top of that, i'm not exactly sure how there'll be a pre-season jib park if there's a new n00b chair where the park once was.
thoughts?

I think olympic and even the screaming eagle will die down a bit. Every tourist who doesn't bother to look at a trail map will see the closer chairs. So they will probably lap the new quad, because it's "new" and easily accessed. You might be right in seeing that it will do nothing, but they can only fit so many people in the gondola up, and having two new chairs will even out the lines a bit.
I'd trust them a little until we see it. They'd have hired planners and professionals to make sure it was worth it first. Or if they didn't they will probably fail as a company.
Does the chair actually go right up paradise? If it does I'm sure they'll still be able to fit a jib park in there and just avoid the tower or two that would be on the run.

Peak chair: will minimize lines at the whatever its called cahir. tourist norts will just be like fuck ya double black peak runs are awesome fuck all this blue square shit down the side. sure, for us it makes no sense cuz we want the longer runs and pow in the trees. most atomic metron b5i extreme euro carver will be stoked that he can just lap peak quick and not deal with all the shit down at the bottom.
Rope tow lift: zav, think about ski school and all the ppeople learning who suck balls but find the rope too hard to get up so they head on over to the cut. i think it wont change the length of the line to much in terms of public lines but without ski school alternating in they will speed up. plus for a lazy fuck like me i am happy to no longer have to hike everywhere on grouse and will gladly sit on a chairlift for 3 seconds instead. plus. we can get liek 23049820 laps in a day. HOLLAS!

hahahahah im sorry but even with peter's sound reasoning the peak chair is still laughable. its not going to do anything. cant wait to glide by and see the tumbleweed rolling around in the loading area. stoked for the paradise chair though. I'm feeling a major jibpark overhaul, plus i don't have to hike :D
cut lines will be worse than ever. even if the chairs do take a little bit off the lines, im sure enough asians have immigrated over the last 6 months to increase the line sizes anyways
WHOA did i just type that.. my baddd
i guarantee there will be a secondary form of lift up the cut by 2010. that or an alien spaceship will grind the new DFD. and if neither of those happen i will ski naked down the cut on a sunday afternoon with "check out these screaming eagles" painted on my chest

and some other form of chair-related innuendo on my back, as i will likely try to maintain a shred of my dignity by skiing switch much of the way

andrew, did you do hallucinogenic drugs again? because what you just said was sound up until the part where you said "major jib-park overhaul". and then it just went to absolute shit.
i'm acutally laughing so hard at your last three comments. sweet baby jesus.

its funny caus they put 2 chairs in the most usless parts of the mountain when they cant put a t bar in the park lol i miss you grouse.
Hey heres an idea for you guys who are over grouse line ups maybe just try and move to whistler or go ride mtn seymour? its closer to alot of you guys its got a better park AND it has better pow AND its cheaper

Ive been thinking about this for a while, and you all mention valid points. Some other things to think about:
--Grouse ultimately wants a hotel, more mountain top chairs= Big White Style mountain top village
--Blatant Claim to rival Cypress, as to not lose too much North Shore Market Share
-- Possible Paradise node to be able to start a Dam Mountain expansion
-- New Peak chair replaces Screaming Eagle Chair as the Summer Time sightseeing Chair
--New Peak chair allows for possible construction of "Peak Mtn Top Restaurant", accessible both in Winter and Summer
-- Having A paradise chair will allow them to divide paradise into 3 or four 'new named runs' giving them a 15% terrain expansion which always looks good on the website and brochure
-- new peak chair will allow patrolers to more easily 'monitor' (i.e justify skiing) poop chutes for the super high avalanche danger Grouse frequently gets...read with sarcasm

they are both really stupid. the paradise one might get some of the noobs off of cut, and the peak is useless to me. they should have opened up more terrain or something
