Salomon STH heel forward pressure adjustment

heya guys. looking to see if anyone has the know-how to tell me how to do the forward pressure adjustment on the STH series heel. please don't tell me not to attempt it, because i've been drilling my own skis for years with rossis as well as the other salomon heel design. i know how forward pressure works, just need to know what the indicator is on this particular heel.

the screw should sit around five mill out with a boot in it. There is a small rectangle set into behind the screw, the back of this rectangle should be flush with the back of the binding, it is difficult to see but i assure you its there. the screw itself should not be flush, that would be too tight hope this helps. you may need to adjust toe height and wings also...

first off, the sth 12s, 14s, 14 drivers, and 16s, dont have the same forward heel pressure. if you are talking about the 16s w/ a worm screw, then the forward pressure is right when the screw head is even w/ the end of the heel track (when the boot is in the binding of course) if you have any other questions, pm me, i just finished reading through the new shop practices guide

You dont really need to read the tech manual.  They have been using this forward pressure system for like ~15 years.

I'm pretty sure all salomon sth bindings use the same fwd pressure worm screw. STH stands for steel tech housing, the heel piece uses a steel track. This same track used to be used in salomons beefiest bindings back in the day ie salomon s916 and s920. The retail bindings such as the salomon s912 and s810 (discontinued as of this year) used an aluminium track which was prone to cracking, the s914 used a steel track which was a bit better but still used the tab for the fwd pressure.

All STH bindings use the same heel track..

IF the screw is flush the fwd pressure is too tight and you risk injury, it should not be flush.........

Old thread BUMPage!

I just asked a shop tech this same question, because I need to adjust my STH16s for my new boots. He said the same thing, the worm screw will be flush with the back of the heel track. Thing is, I got home and adjusted them, and that wormscrew does not move. It is stationary, and moves the heel piece forward and back in the heel track. The screw itself does not move, at least not on mine. So how do you adjust them??? There is an arrow on one side of the the heel piece itself, but I don't know if that is for forward pressure and if so, where is it supposed to line up with what? Or am I missing something else?

The screw that adjusts the heelpiece also adjusts forwardpressure when the boot is clicked in.

When you click in the boot you see that the screw moves out a little.

If you screw it out you see small lines on the screw itself which should not be visible for correct pressure.
Or you can have the screwhead in line with the small cutout just below the screw. (Dunno if this is right way to go)

Here's a thread I made after i tried to bump this one a while ago. https://newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/496035/

Turns out my boots are too small for the adjustable range, so my forward pressure screw does not come all the way out flush with the back of the track. However, some people say they aren't supposed to, and I rose mine yesterday with the screw about 1/8 inch in from being flush, and I never had a problem, never came out or pre-released, and could butter just like normal.
