to be honest, i dont know why anybody would ever want to be president. over half the people in this thread probably don't even know what the presients powers are.. and who gets blamed for everything when shit hits the fan?.. the president. i'm not saying that i agree with everything that george bush has done, but the 2 worst attacks ever to happen on american soil were Pearl Harbor and the 9/11 attacks.. give the guy some fucking credit. not only were there the 9/11 attacks but there was also hurricane katrina and hurricane ike.. its not like the guy has had an easy going. but most kids my age just jump on the bush hate bandwagon cuz its the cool thing to do, just like they jump on the vote obama bandwagon because thats the cool thing to do. it just pisses me off when people have opionions but no reasons for them.
i agree that obama would probably be more focussed on environmental issues in office, and those issues are extremely important to me. but it really doesn't matter what he does. we need to get the 300million+ people in this country on board to fix the environment and with the little information most people know about global warming, climate change, whatever you want to call it.. its not likely to happen anytime soon. that makes me sad.
Bottom line for me, the government sucks at spending money wisely no matter who you choose to put into office... i dont want my brother to not be able to afford to send my nephews to a private school to get an awesome education in hopes that they can turn out as successful as him. redstribution of wealth is a load of shit, you get what you pay for and you also get what you work for. i'm not voting for mccain as much as i'm voting against obama.
Unfortunately, the policies of the Bush Administration have only amplified the failings of te public school system.
Your casual dismissal of public schools succinctly details our fundamental differences.
The (your) idea that public schooling, and it's educational value, is inherently inferior is troubling. Shouldn't all Americans be entitled to the same quality of education? Essentially what your suggesting is that because your brother worked hard and is successful...his children should be entitled to, or grandfathered into, the same degree of success. I'd like to believe that all Americans, not just those with successful parents, have the same access to an "awesome education".
How many potential leaders, doctors, lawyers, engineers have wasted away, while some jaded and underpaid teacher rattles off useless information that's only meant to prepare them to be marginally successful on a completely arbitrary state test? A state test, mind you, that in no way reflects a student's aptitude and/or performance (don't get me started on the cultural bias)...yet determines whether a particular school's funding will be cut or not.
Thanks No Child Left Behind Act!
Frankly Tex, you sound like an entitled, ungrateful classist. And worst of all, you don't seem to know it.
you dont know anything about me man
