Reverse Camber skis.... IM SCARED

People who have transitioned your fat skis to a reverse camber pow ski, I want to hear your thoughts.

was it hard to transition?
are they absolutely useless on hard snow / how deep does it have to be to really appreciate them? is it tough to go back to reg sidecut day in / day out



Right now im busting a nut over the Rossi s7's... i like the traditional sidecut underfoot so i dont look like a fuckin gaper on a cat track.

Dude, stop being a pussy.

Why is everyone so scared of fat skis? And reverse camber?

It just makes skiing AWESOME in powder, and it doesn't make them "totally useless" on groomers, the skis just have a shorter effective edge, making them ski short. They're buttery and fun as hell. Stop being a poontang, and just buy that shit.

I've been riding Spatulas for about 3 seasons.  They work best in fresh but are OK on anything soft, which would include groomed.  I ride 'em everywhere except park.  The only time they DON'T work is on solid ice.  They are true reverse camber reverse sidecut skis.  I'd like to upgrade to a pair of the more modern fatties with rocker.  Have demoed Pontoons and Hellbents.  I liked both of those.  Skis with some sidecut will work better when you scrape across ice.  Reverse camber/rockered skis are fun.

also cut me a fuckin break, im 22 and have been skiing mostly on east coast ice for 20  years of my life, raced for 8+ years so it would be a pretty big changeup for my edge control.

Go for it. The S7s are a pretty damned stiff ski, but I have heard good things about it from most people who have ridden it. If you want to read about some other rockered skis, I have a few reviews in my signature. Let me know if you have any questions.

True man, I gotcha.  I'm an Ice Coaster, and I'd be pretty scared to ride anything too out there...but it could be an experience?  Go for it!  Worse comes to worse you mount em up, ski em, hate em, and have to sell the setup for 100-150 less than you got it.  Fine, you learned your lesson.  But I think it'd be pretty sick to at least try em out, so I'd say go for it!

I was fortunate enough to ride those skis last season.  You won't be dissapointed if you get them.  Float wonderfully, pound thru crud and turn like you wouldn't think a ski that big can turn.  somewhat like the 09 JJ's but more directionally made.

I don't remember these having reverse camber.  I think there's camber underfoot just rockered and reverse sidecut tip and tails.  I can't remember for sure though.

as another ice coaster i'm kinda debating that also. i have bacons as my pow skis but i'm wondering whether or not to get some super fat reverse reverse skis but i think they're kinda overkill for the east

also, if you're a racer, you will hate them in the beginning because they'll flap around everywhere but once you ski them in pow you'll realize how sick they are

ime from the east too, ad it ws weird when i came out the Hood and saw people riding bent's and other rockered skis. but i soon found myself on a pair of my friends bents and havent looked back yet.  it truly is amazing.  why else would every ski company be making at least one ski with a rockered profile.

i just got my hellbents, ( they are reverse camber, you guys know that ) super stoked to ski them, claim,    i skied hellbents last year, for a day then that night i went back to my park skis,  did a drop wasnt thinking im on normal shape and cut skis, landed with out being back any, really hard tip dive, and tomahawked,

Also, aren't the 09 Bacons rockered a tad bit?  Jus a little?  I think those would be sick to ride, even as all mountain skis, just because they're so playful...
