So my roommate just chugged a bottle of Robotussin...

My roommate got a cold so he went out and grabbed a bottle of Robotussin.  This kid likes to get fucked up so he chugs the whole thing.  Now he sees his life in flashes and says he feels really chill.  Was this a good decision by my roommate?

Hey moron, shut up.  LSD is not a bad idea.  LSD, is illegal because it is too useful.  Did you know there were studies done in the fifties about LSD as a painkiller, stress reliever etc.  Did you know they never released the results to anyone?  Do you know why?  NO, you don't.  Because the usefulness of LSD was too good to be true.  It proved to have painkilling effects up to a week after being dosed at a SUB psychedelic amount.  On top of all that LSD is one of the most safe chemicals known to man *physically not psychoactive* and is less neuro-toxic than vitamin C or E.

Flashbacks= A lie.  There is no such thing as a flashback that will just suddenly occur.  HPPD is what a "flashback" is.  Hallucinogenic Perceptual Persistence Disorder.  HPPD will be noticed after coming down from a trip, or waking up the next day in most cases.  No, it will not make you think that the world is going to end.  You may see things in the corner of your eye that aren't truly there.  Or there may be some patterns in the lawn (awsome).

Now that this ignorance has been dealt with.  To the OP.

DXM is fun, not the best thing for your liver.  No worse than drinking though.  Look at the bottle that your roommate drank.  You should not take any cough syrup that contains any other active ingredient than Dextromethorphan Hbr or Hcl.  DXM Hbr is the extended release.  Meaning smoother trip, less intense and longer.  My best guess is that your roommate is an idiot and drank some syrup with guaifenesin in it.  Guafenesin is an expectorant A.K.A. makes you puke.

And to L-Dank I really think you should shut the fuck up.  You have NO IDEA what you are talking about on any level.  LSD was synthesized not knowing that it would be psychoactive.  Albert Hoffman skimmed his finger over a crystal and noticed a "off" feeling.  Then awhile after began testing its psychoactive propertys.  I can't recall what its use was, but it was not for torture. 

This weekend I dropped LSD with FRODO.  and guess what we laughed for 1.5 hours straight.  PURE TORTURE.  I WANTED TO DIE SO BAD.

umm people who were considered terrorists, enemies of the state, and so on, were administered LSD and then tortured, forcing them to experience not only the bad trip, and the torture, but a combination of the two, its caused people to have complete psychotic breakdowns.

yes, but not initially as a torture device.
By itself in the right dosage, without people using extremely effective torture tactics, it won't kill you, or psychotically break you down.
I have yet to try it, but I'm definitely willing.

I'm going to guess I know more about drugs than any other person on this site.  And no, that never happened.  But they did administer tests on the american army to see if it could be used in world war 2 because you're in awe and you forget about how shitty the world really is.  In other words distracting the enemy.  They were going to dump LSD out of planes but could not come up with enough to cover a whole area of attack.

The only reason that story would be plausible is because if you're under severe stress (i.e. taken hostage at war) and given LSD yeah, you're bound to have a bad trip.  But that never happened so shutup.

Second of all have you ever tried LSD?

you have no idea what you are talking about, it may have been used with tortue, but lsd was NOT originally made to be used as a torture device/with torture, it will not make u have a complete psychotic breakdown. did your mom tell you that? thats so far from the truth, they were given it as a drug so that they could interrogate them when they were in another state of mind, there was no torture process involved, it was actually illegal to torture so your terribly wrong. well, it seems like some of u hav a little cognitive dissonance (when u do or think something that a part of u disagrees with and u try to rationalize that by any means necessary to reduce that dissonance)
LSD is not a good drug.  i kno people who hav taken it and after reflecting on their decision realized that it was not a good idea.  the hallucinations can be very bad (to the point where someone i kno had to hold his firend down to prevent him from jumping out of a car) and later in life there r flashbacks.  one can also become psychologically dependant on it and withdrawal from it can often be horrible.  people can also develop psychosis.  abuse can also lead to hepatitis.

i heard the dextromethorphan is a similar chemical structure to codeine but it does not fit into the opiate receptor at low doses but at high doses it overcomes the mismatch for the receptor and starts going into the opiate receptors and giving you opiate like hallucinations.

acid could easily be used to torture someone, if you don't believe that you are pretty naive.  bad trips can occur even in good company, especially with an extremely high dose that you can't handle.


a few people on this site think drugs are the devil, most believe they couldn't possibly have any harmful effects.  the truth is that everyone has their own relationship with each and every drug out there, and until you've explored that relationship, it's dumb to comment on it, and even stupider to make generalizations about drugs you have done because they affect each and every person in different ways.  for example, weed doesn't "chill me out," it's like a stimulant for me.  not saying I don't love it, but it has adderal-like effects on me.

Hey, thanks for that.  Also to L-Dank, he is a respectable member.  Deffinitely reasonable when i talked to him.  Also if you guys have any questions about pretty much any drug i can most likely answer it.  Exceptions to Benzos in most cases.
