^I heard he's written some good ones!

But really listen to asian_allen, Clancy is bomb. It depends on how long you have to read the book. Some of his get a little long. But definitely worth it.

I really wouldn't suggest reading any Fitzgerald, unless you're wanting to read a book wrapped in symbolism and underlying themes that are someone hard to understand if you're not used to it.

I'd also suggest reading a Chuck Palahniuk book. Maybe Fight Club or Choke, considering the movie Choke is coming out soon.

Please don't read Clancy. Read something that will have some social value. The Great Gatsby is always a good choice. It's short and the symbolism is really easy to figure out. It would be REALLY easy to write a research paper about it.

Yeap, Rainbow Six is one of my favorite books of all time. Not too much thinking involved just an amazing plot and even better storytelling.

If I were you (thread creator) I would read Rainbow 6. You'll read it so quick even though its 900 pages and you'll impress the hell out of your teacher. She should give you an A automatically for that.

I would suggest On The Road- Kerouac, anything by James Patterson.... if you wanna cop uot do one of the chronicles of narnia books (voyage of the dawn treader is my favorite).... umm i just started reading Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Moore I think... its pretty sick so far, kinda a cult classic too

all of these books are awesome i havent read salughter house but the rest are unreal, also check out

"the doors of perception" is about his drug experiences. i havent read it in years but remember it being super interesting. and yeah. brave new world is sick.

hst is always good, raul duke had some awesome ideas too, but one i would do if i were you would be shel silverstein.

he had a super awesome career, not just his kids books.  he was an acclaimed songwriter (he wrote johnny cash's a boy named sue for one), cartoonist for playboy and one of hef's personal friends, he wrote lots of stuff that wasnt children's poems including plays, short stories and books.  he even wrote a version of hamlet for playboy magazine in rap form.

if you have to do a report on the author, that would be an interesting one that would probably set you apart from the rest of the class.

sorry for the dp, but of all the books raul duke listed, only brave new world tops slaughterhouse five for me, you should really check it out.

and harry.hood, did you know that huxley's doors of perception was where jim morrison got the name "the doors" for the band?
