Volkl wall.

i dunno if they changed it or not but my friend has last years
he liked them alot
he skied them mostly for bigger hits and all mountain type of stuff
he occasionally jibbed and skied rails on them but he had thalls for that

besides the graphic, the ski has not changed at all.

new lighter weight core. and improved durability.

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but REI's website says the following about the Wall:

If it is accurate, that sure sounds different to me... I don't recall anything about butter zones on the 08. Plus I think the armed edge is different. Dimensions are definitely the same I guess.

Ok, a relatively informative review of volkl walls:

Piste: Sick. For a centre mounted ski they ski amazing on piste. They are pretty fast (I raced on them and did pretty well), moderately stiff but still playful. They are really great on groomers. Better than other park skis I have skied (1080, Foil, AR6, Anthem). Really quick edge to edge

Bumps: Pretty good here too. A little bit stiff and a the centre mount makes them a bit 'catchy' in the tails but otherwise good.

Jumps (park): Sick!! So solid on landings, good swing weight and fast enough to easily pick up speed to hit the big tables.

Jumps (BC): Not bad, stiff enough to deal with crud, mine were too short and they are too stiff for pow landings really.

Rails: Good. Relatively wide underfoot so a good area to land on. A little bit on the heavy side for a park ski. Otherwise good.

Pow: Suprisingly ok. By no means great but I skied some pow lines on them. They did alright. Bit on the stiff side for this really but as I say they were not bad.

Durability: 2007/08s: Binding pullout after 4 days and again after 10 days. Bases not in great condition after that. topsheet chips, sidewalls coming off.. Crap. But I have been told by friends who are riding them that the 2008/09 ski is bombproof. Friends who ski for volkl have managed to make the new model last 6 months and had no problems when they destroyed 5 or more pairs of the old ones.

Customer Service: Not great by any means. Had big problems in the UK and untracked.com warrantied them for me but said volkl were giving them problems too. untracked.com = great service. volkl uk = shit service. volkl US.. don't seem great but didn't deal with them directly.

Do you have any info regarding the 09 vs the 08? I just hope they didn't change the design other than fixing the durability issues...

I believe the 09 ski is very similar in flex and performance to the 08 ski. There has been a slight weight reduction and some durability improvements. Other than that it will ski very similar.

I didn't want to make a new thread so.... I'm thinking about getting the walls. It's between those and the disorderlies and i'd say i do 60% park. About 6 foot 170 lbs. Which do you guys think is the better choice?

   I had the same dilemma as u, I went with last years walls. There just gunna be better skis. I have heard some bad things about durability, but if you aren't super hard on them, they should hold up. I'm a big fan of Volkl, they've done well for me. Two more pairs of their skis in my basement. Grab the Walls.

i'm 6'3'' and the same weight and was deciding between those skis also. if i didn't already have a stiff ski, i probably would have gone with the volkls. but i wanted to try something softer so i got the disorderlys. hand flexing, they're definitely softer than the walls, but have a full sidewall and look absolutely bombproof. if you have any questions about them let me know
