Suspects or Thalls

Hey guys (and girls) i am torn between the new thalls and the new suspects. I like that salomon finally has the vertical sidewall, and that the thalls this year are a bit stiffer. I wanna get somthing shorter, around 170, and im 6' 200 lbs so i gotta have that stiff shyt. penny for your thoughts?

your 6' 200lbs IMO you should def get a longer ski than 170

Anyway, both are good skis and you wont be disappointed with either. Go for the cheapest

Please do not buy a 170 if you are really 6ft tall...

suspects are way stiffer than thalls, they got all wood core so i think id go for suspects if i wanted a stiffer ski

buy the suspects man, I have compared this years and last years thalls, same ski judging by flex. thall has a weird flex, try it before you buy it.  i have last year's t-hall, sorry to say but i'm not a huge fan of the ski.

Yea?? i have heard mixed reviews on the thalls, and suspects are what im leaning twoards, dont know what bindings im gonna get tho, uhhg. Are the thalls similar to the pipecleaners in anyway? i rode last years pc's and they werent that bad.

haha na thalls are noodles compared to pc's i thought the flex on the thalls was amazing

both skis are going to be a lot lighter.  the suspects are pretty mad stiff, and if you want stiffer go dumonts.  but really go 176 man,  both skis are so close to center mounted you'll be snow blading otherwise.

the t-halls are not very stiff at all.  good soft snow skis, but you're not going to want to ski ice on them at all.

sorry for the double post, but dumonts are not stiff at all...they are softer than the old ones which is probably the reason he rode his older promodel to hit the big jumps at joss.

ok so i went down to the local shop, and the 176's flexed pretty damn nice. The suspects are baller and im leaning twoards those, but whats a good light high strength binding? and thanks for the feedback guys, if the thalls are super flexy then there out, i got a pair of old 1080s 161 from a couple years back, they shred and good for learning rails and butters.

For not having ridden either ski, I'm leaning towards the Suspects already, just from hearing Freeskier's and Matt Harvey's rave reviews. 

As for bindings, to each his own - I'm a big Look/Rossi guy, but other people will tell you that they hate Look and Rossi bindings and be all like "Salomon!" or "4frnt!"  Either way, most people have a preference.

The ideal Look/Rossi binding to buy, that's still in production, would be something like the PX12, which, you being your size, could crank up to like 8 or 9 and be fine.  I'm 6ft and 185 and I ride them at 7 and I'm fine...

For Salomon (and I'm not sure on this), the STH series is tops.  I'll let someone else elaborate.

As for 4frnt, I hear they're really heavy bindings, the Deadbolts.  I'd stay away from them if I were you...

Hopefully this helps.  And you definitely need a bigger ski than 170 dude, you'll break those things on your first run.  I'm near your size and I skied on 171 Solly 1080s last year and, although not usually super soft, they were like noodles because I could manhandle them all over.  You need something that's at least high 170s, even 180.  I bought 180 SPKs recently and I expect em to be perfect.
