Pricing Skis -

Alright, so here's the dealio:

I've never sold a pair of skis before...

That being said, I won a pair of 171 Liberty Hazmats in a rail jam on Sunday.  Stoke level = high, ski length = short.  Bummer.  They're last year's skis, brand new, and I was wondering what to price them at.  I already have a buyer, but I just don't know what to sell them for.  I've seen them around online for 500, 450, and possibly 400, but that was in only one length, 164.  So I ask the Gear Advisors - what should I price this ski at? 

Note - Don't include shipping.  Give me a price and I'll add shipping later.

i'd go for $450 and if the guy tries to bargain with you so be it. Better to start high and see how much you can get out of him.

always go for higher than you want so if he trys to bargain,
you really get the price you wanted in the first place or if he doesnt bargain, you get a damn good deal.
id say 500 or 525

i would go for $400 because $450 seems high. even with a bargain offering by the potential buyer, they will probly start off way lower than $450. just my opinion but you could probly swindle some poor sucker lol

if he's gonna buy them for those prices then why not just buy them off a website?
it has to be lower than any website but still decently high.

What if I told you that I might be selling them to my mom - I don't want to swindle her, because she pays for my life and birthed me (teehee) and whatever price I say goes - she doesn't really know anything about pricing, but knows that the skis could work for her...what would you say then?

The idea is that I need a fair price.  That's why I was thinking 375 or so...right?

if your selling them to your mom 375 would be perfect or anything a little lower or a little higher

well for all the money your mom has spent on your life, you should just give her the skis. but price them at 375-400, otherwise you won't get a buyer. here're the tgr guidelines for pricing ski

-50% off current selling price
-10% for number of times drilled
-10% for every marker binding attached (dukes and jesters are excluded)
+10-30% for rare-ness

on ns you can get away with a lot more than that but keep it in mind while selling them, don't go too over or people will bitch you out

Well, she "wants" new all mountain skis but doesn't need them - and she offered to buy them from me.  I didn't go to her and ask her to buy them, I'm not that big of a loser.  She knows I could easily sell them on NS and respects my opinion and trusts my honesty. 

So 375 is legit? 

BTW + karma for legit opinions.

$375 sounds good to me. You make some money, and you don't swindle your mom. If you give her a good deal and she realizes that, she might be more willing to buy you something later.
You didn't pay a penny for the skis, but if she saves over 25% on them she's still saving good money. 25% off is $375, so that or anything lower is good.

If you sell low you'll probably see that money again, but if you sell high she might not buy stuff for you as willingly.

Turns out my mom is not going to buy them.

Same price?  On TTN they're 400, but only in a 164 length...should that affect my decision?  Or stay at 375?
