Marker Jester vs. Look PX 18

Well, my friend and I are debating which binding is more "bombproof".

He can get the Jesters for $350, or the PX 18s for $300

Overall, which bindings is stronger/ more "bombproof"?

Both are great choices probably the best of any freestyle bindings are these two. I have jesters and my buds have px18s id say my jesters hold up pretty well the jester has more metal so it will probably last longer. I just think jesters look better. so get which ones you think look better they will both be fine choices.

Haveing ridden jesters and having seen the PX18s in person in the shop, id say the px18s, they are all metal and are bomb proof. Only downside is that they are verrrry heavy.

that is not true at all they are not all metal, they have about as much metal as a jester idk about weight but my jesters are hella light

dude if you were gonna charge big lines in BC or AK i would go with the px 18 but if you want a solid binding that offers more, get the Jesters. you dont need an 18 din and in addition the looks have a different toe release so it increases the chance of blowing a knee if you land backseat. the jesters are worth more than what they cost and i would recomend them from level 1 to level 3+

but the px 18 is definatley more bombproof, check the reviews for the jester

The px18 is more bombproof, as there is way more metal, but it is heavier than a 916. You likely won't have an issue with the jesters though, they hold up very well.

px18 is an infinitely more diesel binding.  I just got in boxes of jersters and girffons.  There is just too much plastic to feel safe on.  Hell the track that the binding sits on is even plastic.

without a doubt px 18s. all metal if i am not mistaken and really durable. smaller mounting length than the jester too

I heard that Jesters break easily, like a bunch of pros broke theirs at xgames or something. I dont know this for a fact though, so some input on their durablility would be cool from some owners of them...

^ you speak the truth. they only have the jesters on their podium/interview skis. how many screws are in the toe piece? is it only two because that seems really insecure. there is way too much plastic on teh heel piece. sweet looking bindings but i will probly wait a few years for marker to get all the bugs out before i pick up a pair to mount

The PX18s are hands down a much burlier stronger binding. hands down. no competition

ACL and MCL injuries (most common in skiers) are caused by excessive lateral stress on either ligiment. since the look binding has excellent lateral release, a look binding does not increase your chance of blowing a knee.

and for the record, you have a better chance blowing a knee on the old FKS/P series bindings than you have on the new PX series. the difference is the lateral release of the heel in a forward twisting fall

 in forward + rearward twisting falls you are going to have alot harder time coming out of any binding because while you are falling the ski is flexing, and the bindings are clamping your boot in like a vice.

If your looking at either binding your really not looking for a binding to release.

PX 18
pros: bomb proof, all metal will not break on you.
no vertical release, (if your not a pansy).
tones of forward preasure
lots of travel in the binding before the release point, giving you more time to recover.
wide, non sliding AFD.
Cons: heavy, heavy, heavy,
no vertical release (if your a pansy)

Jester:
pros: relatively light,
little ramp angle (could be a con)
cons: weak (for a 16 din binding) they break all the time
not much metal,
expensive.

another you should look at:
STH 16
Pros: Light,
durable
wide foot print,
5 screw heel patern
wide AFD.
Cons: its not all metal so it still breaks if your a big guy and charge hard,
expensive

billy every binding company tells me they have a short footprint allowing the ski to flex naturally.  who lies?  who tells the truth?  i want my grass core to flex naturally.

besides a 20 pound iron WC toe look binding; jesters seem to be a pound lighter than sth16.  unless i fly to europe and buy a sth 14 driver?

there's 4 in the toe. and i havnt had a problem with mine, could be lower on the ski but otherthan that they're bomb. plus they're ment for wider skis so they work well on anything that's built today except the JOP's

um....no, the jesters are alot of fucking plastic, i really am not that happy with my jesters, i mean, they are a decent binding but they just dont have nearly the same retention as my fks, i havent ridden the px18s yet, but i know it is the same toe piece as the fks, which is solid metal, not just metal wings

px18s are the burliest bindings out there right now. jesters arent too shabby, theres some metal, and some very solid plastic resins (that can be just as strong as metal) but it pales in comparison. i have jesters on my blends, but havent skied them yet, but i have rossi 200xxl frees on my scratch bcs, and theyve taken a beating, and still look brand new. i havent had an release problems even without the vertical release.
