what gets the audience the loudest, what gets the most people to laugh. what gets the biggest ohhhhh reaching, what gets the biggest 'ouch!'

MSP movie premieres are always a tool-fest, but its still a good time.

movie wasnt amazing but i had a good time

Yeah, the movie was a typical ski movie, nothing really great about it, but it was still enjoyable.

The tools were out in force.  Along with girls with WAY too much make up.  MSP crowd gets better every year!

First 2 segments + mcconkey segment + the paragliding seg were good rest were typical repetative big mountain.

  ... was a little disappointed.   dont get me wrong, there is some amazing skiing in the film (in fact, all of it..) but i think im just a little let down by the entire ski movie concept these days.  i know msp has their technique down in terms of cinematic process but to elborate on it on a more broad scope...

  i understand the idea of going out there with a select group of pro skiers and trying to get the perfect shot, but it's getting old.   i could count the number of skiers featured in the movie on two hands...  is that how it should be?  there are so many amazing skiers out there doing ridiculous shit- to make a hour or so long video once a year covering that many skiiers is turning into more of a warren miller coporate-sponser-esque video for helly hansen and only dudes who are under particular sponsorship/teams.

the speedriding section of the video was another part that bothered me... besides the insane shot of outrunning that massive avalanche and falling before that huge cliff, a quick youtube search can find you much better footage shot on lowres digi helmet cams... but of course msp wasnt there with 3 helocptors, 10 camera guys and a brigade of snowmobiles capturing it in every view possible.

i find myself more drawn to watching films like Hot Lunch that portrays skiing more as fun and not always epic.  obvisouly this genre of filming is quite different and cant quite be compared to the big budget of msp.  mehhH.  that's all just personal opinion and not meant to be trying to criticize anyone

oh and the soundtrack sucked (besides one social distortion song..).. but that's typical of any ski movie.  and  they really ahve to stop ripping off songs used in old snowboard videos (ozzi song from like TB9..) 

^ agree with everything there pretty much...i was partial to the speed riding cuz it was set in chamonix, other than that...yah.

oh and i wanted the pbr maidens wtf :(

that guy who won the PBR maidens was like 60.

but yeah I pretty much agree with the above review as well.  I don't like the stuck up venue either.  Too bad EVO isn't a bigger venue.

Sounds like everything you would expect out of an MSP movie~

even though MOM hall is one of the best theaters in seattle for a 3000 seat venue the screen was tiny! they could have a much larger screen on that stage where the widescreen wouldnt look jacked up.

and the sound sucked.  i couldnt hear anything anyone was saying because of the resonance/echo

i agree with everything said so far.

but of course i expected all of these things since it was after all an MSP movie. sean and i were saying the exact same thing... MSP is the new warren miller. the kind of people that show up are mostly the people who ski once or twice i year, or just don't really know whats going on.

im really looking forward to triple threat... hopefully i can continue the streak and not get plastered again this year.
