how do you define best pow? Squaw has great terrain. but your fighting a lot of locals there. alpine's got some good stuff to. I have probably had some of my best days on the backside of northstar, I had first run down one of the chutes at mt rose once (the biggest one, el cap or something) I havn't done a lot of park in the past, other then just hitting jumps, so I dont really know.

Most all the resorts in Tahoe have some good features
Pow: Kirkwood and Alpine are really fun
Jumps: Alpine, Squaw, Sierra and Heavenly can all have good jumps if you go at the right time
Rails: NorthStar and Boreal have a ton of fun features

hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha that was actually really funny
but yeah squaw has an awesome park and has the best overall mountain in tahoe easily, so many rocks and cliffs to drop virtually off every lift.

northstar, alpine, and boreal all have really good parks with some big features, but if your looking for a fun, chill day with the occasional big hit definately hit up sugarbowl.

i fully agree. especially if you bring your friends. all of those places have some gnar backcountry and and really fun parks. best pow and terrain is DSR and best park would be soda springs

I've skied Alpine, Boreal, Squaw and Northstar. all good but my favorite was alpine overall. Good park and great terrain. Boreal was fun for park, no mountain terrain whatsoever but easily the highest concentration on gapers I've ever seen in my life. Northstar was anoying with the gondola's but the park was sick, mountain terrain was ok. Squaw I can't really judge I only had one day and I was in the park the whole time for a competition. Jumps were huge late season though, seriously awesome jumps, 30 foot wide lip no lie and 70-80 table. Not fun to undershoot when you're training somebody who "know's the speed" though

Park, in no particular order and really just going from North to South.....Boreal, Northstar, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Heavenly, Sierra at Tahoe
Pow (I'm taking to me on a 3ft bluebird morning where would you want to be), again in no particular order and really just going from North to South.......Sugar Bowl, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Mt Rose, Heavenly, Kirkwood, and sure why not Northstar and Sierra at Tahoe and......shhhhh Homewood

dude DSR was fucking SICK last season. and Soda Springs easily has some of the best terrain in all of Tahoe. Slightly smaller than Squaw but soooo much better.

DONNOR ski ranch for sure. Easily the best resort in Tahoe if not THE WORLD over. Bring your ice axes and crampons for sure.

I know if i was going there I would hit:
Kirkwood
Alpine Meadows
Squaw
Sugarbowl
those will keep you more than entertained

This is pretty much the list right there. If you are looking for park then people are usually all on boreal's nuts but only because it is cheaper and closer than most of those. (Sugar Bowl is essentially the same distance.) They do put up some cool features though.

okay so if your staying by heavenly then a super sick place like 10 min away from that is sierra at tahoe, one of the best parks ever but im not sure how much they will have up by then, then of course heavenly, for boreal northstar and squaw its gonna be kinda a long drive but it will probablly be worth it, boreal always has super sick stuff up early
anywere u go its gonna be sick

definitely going to heavenly with my epic pass this year over spring break, went to northstar and squaw last year...both insanely sweet. squaw would be even more sweet with peak season snow though, for the record. but killer parks at both.
oh, and in north lake...if youre just visiting and need day passes the best western in truckee sells tickets to boreal, north*, squaw, and a couple others for like 50% off

Squaw- Has sick jumps, awesome pow, and lots steep terrain
Kirkwood- Great pow, and some real fun runs
Sierra- Great park, fun mountain, and you can catch a free bus from state-line to get up there
Boreal- sick rails
Heavenly- Sick jumps when they have the snow to do it, and good pow
Have fun out there

Go to Squaw its by far the sickest Tahoe mountain besides Mammoth, its huge, it has a good park and if you catch a good pow day, its amazing.

I went to heavenly last year over college break and even though the moutain was huge and the views were awesome, I was not very impressed with the lay out of mountain, to many flat spots and confussion I def wish I would of went somewhere else. From what everyone told me there is better places to go in tahoe.

Yep. Best resort by far. There AREn't millions of tourists which is nice. And nobody EVER sits all over the features. And it ISn't flat at all. Please everybody go there and take your mom, dad, brother, sister and friends with you.

squaw and homewood are my favorites, ski squaw if you want a little of everything with super good terrain, and homewood for everything else and less crowds, quail face on a pow day first tracks is pretty much unbeatable inbounds

I love Homewood but the lifts kill me. Quail Face is amazing tho. Can only think of a couple places in Tahoe that beat it.

Squaw, Alpine and Sugar Bowl are my favorites.
and I cant' believe nobody mentioned Tahoe Donner. Soooo much more gnar than Soda Springs or Donner ski ranch. I almost couldn't make it down the black run (due to lack of momentum)!

Yeah at northstar lookout ISn't fun at all. The rails AREn't fun at all. When it is rutted it definitely DOESn't suck. The park crew DOESn't suck at all.

Depending on the weather, you may not even be able to make it to North Lake from South Lake unless you take a detour lap around the lake.
Powder: Alpine, Squaw,Kirkwood,Sugar Bowl Mt. Rose, (the chutes,) demhoow

Mt. rose isn't to bad. the chutes can be fun, I had first tracks on a powder day down el cap. a couple years ago they had some pretty sick jumps there and cool shit.

My top four - YMMV
1. Squaw - everything is amazing, really a world class resort - but co$tly
2. Kirkwood - all about the skiing, some of the best stuff anywhere, off the beaten path
3. Alpine - summit six is the best chair in tahoe but lines can get long
4. Sierra at tahoe - close to the bay, two nice high speed chairs, great tree skiing
