LINE, Armada, PE?

So i just got done reading the line posts, and i must admit, i'm more convinced than i ever was that they are decent skis. My dilemma is as follows:
- I need news kis this year, and i'm trying to decised between LINE 160, Armada ar5, or te PEs.

- About 200$ for the line's, 350$ for the PEs, and like 450-500$for the ar5s

- Taking into consideration cost, durability and skiability, which ones would you recommend? (I live in Washington, ski about 65% park, 30% pow, 5% groom)

I know similar posts already exist, but i want these three specific skis to be compared. thanks.

PE's def....i just got back from checking them all out at sweet shop in burlington VT. I have lines and i need a tougher ski...the PE are reeal rugged and the armada's are just too expensive.

I also want them to be good at mire than just oark. i know the 1260s are made for park, but do they ski elsewhere okay?

my 12's would ski the pow just fine...lil chattery at high speeds on the groomed though. i just got some Mad Trix and there way stiffer, probably make for better at high speeds and there dynomite ( indestructable)

So I ended up getting the mad tirx for like 207$ including shipping, because it was such a good deal, but i was wondering what the best way to mount them was. i want to mount them with the biggest shovel up front, but pretty center mounted. i was thinking i'd mounted them in big mountain mode, but more centered. any suggestions?

now matt lines aren't that bad. pe's are worse and don't have as valuable of a warranty. armadas are great but very expensive. i'd get the lines for the warranty and the much cheaper price. if you get a pair of mike nick pros or skogens they will be well worth it for all over the mountain.

tough call on the mounting,,, big air mode, is a complete center mount it is not?? I know some ppl that got it mounted a couple cm's forward in Big mountain mode and like it.

The wieght of the mad trix are ok without that damn bulky binding setup on them. But then again no one gets the twin-directional binding. My friend has them and skied them last season and chipped the hell out of both of the tips. He said they skied good but they're lacking in durability.

Dude, my Line Skogans delammed after 2 weeks of riding pipe last year, and then they didnt warrenty them. Line sucks.

i wish you would just curl up and die - i'm so sick and tired of this argument. Sometimes i wish that all promodels and top the line skis were just plain white to determine the hard core riders after performance from the fucking newbies who just want to look cool

When some one asks this question all they are really wanting to find out is which brand ski will make me look the coolest.

Line skis are for girls!.....the PE are nice as long as you don't mind the weight and you should mount them ahead to because ski better that way I road the Armada's for a bit in the spring and loved them! I would say go with the AR5..but don't go LINE they suck!

the pe is nice and long? the pe comes in 169 & 179. the pollard pro is a 186, the 1260 comes in a 182, the mothership comes in a 182 & 192, the darkside comes in a 185, the maverick comes in a 180, and the new mike nick pro is going to be a 181. that would put a good percentage of the line skis longer than the pe comes.
and the weight issue...i'm pretty sure the pe is light, and lighter than any line ski. its a piece of shit that delams easier and faster than any line ski. k2 moved their factory and screwed things up for themselves. you guys really think those rivets in the pe's and seth pistols are there to look cool? they need them to help keep the ski together.
line doesn't suck. i bet you supported line before and now you are jumping on the trend train like the majority of the other kids that ride twins. know what you're talking about before you talk shit.

I will test the PE's some day on the slopes,but they are heavier than I thought.. The AR5's are pretty sick too. Much better than I expected,it has a real good pop and it moves quicly,very quickly. I'm damn lucky that I got 'em. Then one day I skied my old Elan's and then with the Armada's again..damn!!! The difference between an awesome ski and a noodle fuck derivative...

I think Armada is a great company. Theyre guys are real open minded to new things and they dont act like dicks. I met Tyson Hall last year at SIA and they know whats going on. The madtrix are cheaper but I think Armadas are the way to go.

If youre going to go you may as well go all the way.

I dont think the PEs delam are crappy, and the rivits arent there to hold the ski together. If Morrison can do all the crazy drops on his pistols and not have delams all the time, than I am pretty sure I am not going to have any problems with mine.

The rivets on the PE are there for a reason. Remember the old Enemy? Yeah, they were having problems with delaming but kept the same process in making the ski. To stop this they put the rivets in so K2 would have to quit dishin' out new skis to keep their customers happy. Moving the factory was the worst mistake K2 made, whats better US or Chinese glue? Right.

I'd definitely go with the lines for 200. That's an awesome price for most line skis.

I agree they shouldnt have moved the manufacturing end to China as well.

I know the old PEs had problems delaming that was the reason I heard they needed the rivets.

Why does Chinese glue suck? First I'm pretty confident saying that the workers in the old K2 factory actually skied and tested the product they produced. How many of those 12 year old's in China making the PE's and Pistols's know how to even use a ski? Any company that relocates because it's product can be produced someplace else cheaper tends to not care about what they're producing and tends to care more for the $BUCK$.

Also tell me what cars are produced in China. I'll be damned if I can't think of one produced in China.

The car company Seat produces several cars in factories in China. There is nothing wrong with relocating a company. It has its definite ups and downs. Property prices are far lower, work is far cheaper, and believe it or not, but products tend to be better quality. You arent going to convince me otherwise. I am studying international business at school right now, i have learned a lot about this. You do make some good points however. The kids dont get to ski the PEs or Pistols, but the kids arent the ones who design the skis. That is still something that takes place on the slopes here. I am sure test skis are produced here aswell. Once a model has been proven good and meets quality standards, it begins production.

your idea to centre mount with it facing big mountain is the way to go dude. if you meassure the whole ski and mark the centre you can make a judgement on were you want to mount it. thats what i do when mounting skis

Well I know one things for sure. On the Chinese end that the labor cost is going to be cheaper and would be cheaper all the way around.

I still disagree with the move K2 made not just because I dont think they should have moved over seas but I think they could have moved to a different location with taking the factory out of the U.S.

Sorry I came off as sounding like a hard ass in my previous post but thats just an issue that pisses me off. I see how your viewing the move from a business perspective, my best friend is too majoring in international business.

The way I'm seeing the whole ordeal is from a skiers point of view, not a businessman's. I understand why they moved. Our motivation is money more than anything. We would probably all do the same thing if we had the opportunity to make more money.

I have not owned a pair of K2 factory team skis, just an older pair of Merlins and I haven't had any problems with them. A guy I rode with the past two seasons went through 2 pair of Enemy's in the first year and 1 pair this last season. They delamed at the tip most of the time and the ski just fell apart from there. I will give credit to K2 for their warranty.

It's nice to talk on a forum where people actually know what they're talking about. Not shit talking between 12 year olds on other forums I've been on. Lates.

I understand completely. It's nice where people give there opinion and it's not totally disrespected by some little kid who cusses every other word. It's also nice having people who are also in college, I'm a double major history and english and lookin' to go into law when I graduate. We'll see...
