If you're looking at CSU you should just be smart and go to CU. Besides the fact that it's closer to the mountains, we have beaten CSU's gay asses at football 4 years straight now and boulder is a better time than fort collins. Ever heard the saying, "if you can't go to college go to state?" ... yeah well if you can't get into CU that's when you go to CSU. apply to CU, it'll be the best choice you ever make

well i wanted to go to CU, but i missed the fuckin transfer deadline. CSU's girls are that fuckin bad huh? thats a major turn off, but theres like 26,000 kids there or some shit, il be able to weed out some hunnies for sure.

i'm sure they have a buncha cuties man i wouldn't stress over it. whatever, either way you're gonna be in colorado and this is my fourth year living in boulder and i love colorado. i'm originally from NJ but colorado is a great place with great people and kick ass scenery. come on out and enjoy yourself here

Ever heard the saying, "there are a lot of kids at cu with over inflated egos and huge senses of entitlement simply because they have a decent football program, but still dont really accomplish anything except wasting their parents money like any good yuppie child would do?"

get over cu football, they are still one of the worst in the mountain west.

boulder is a pretty nice place though, but it is way more expensive, the price of living is much higher than fort collins.

you better check your math there bucko. CSU won two years ago (06 season)

and there are hot girls at CSU, dont listen to people who dont know anything. the main difference is you drive about an hour more when you go skiing, and there are no where near as many good skiers in general (tons of weekend warriors though, proud of their 20 days a season). for out of state without any scholarships, the tuition difference is about 10grand a year, so that's pretty significant.

Yeah, your right csu is cheaper, but for good reason. Besides having a better football team we also are known to have a better academic program, boulder is without argument a more fun city, and we are closer to skiing than csu which is what this kids looking for. however since ya missed the deadline if you go to csu u'll still have a good time, colorado just sweet in general. But i know kids out there and they have trouble finding kids that what to take the long trek to go skiing while that is no problem in boulder the ski scene here is awesome.

yeah im not very impressed over the fact your going for finance, in fact i could give a shit. I work for the biggest wealth management company in the world (UBS) and to tell you the truth, the business sucks balls right now, so yes it could in fact be a waste of money.

mech actually is similar...look at competition results from the programs, and CSU usually does better (i was in ME, and they made a big deal about it).

well i have been in the finance industry for 2 years now and yes 75k out of college is accurate, but like i said all you need is your associates, which is what i have.  at the end of the day you have to ask yourself if you want to deal with the stress, complianing and extremely hard work that goes into being a financial advisor. that stress will kill you man...literally, thats why im going back to school.

CU is where I originally wanted to go for the obvious reasons but cost and everything caused me to go to CSU. I love it here though the thing is most of the instate kids are lazy and unmotivated to do anything outdoors. You just have to meet out of state kids who are always up for doing stuff and having a good time. Its easy to find rides to the mountains and it really isnt that much further than boulder..People in foco are so much more friendly compared to a lot of the stuck up boulder kids in my experience. The rich hippy kids piss me off so much..My roommates two friends who went to boulder already dropped out and are going to rehab for a year for drugs and drinking. The weekends at CSU suck though if you and your friends dont have a car you will be misserable because everyone goes home on the weekends.

You really think many firms are going to hire someone with an AA from their local cc? You must have a family hookup, because it's even tough now with a BA from good schools. But I'm sure your life is already set due to independent cash.


And you guys are arguing about CSU and CU academics. That is like arguing about who is more mediocre.

Dude, of course CU kids will tell you it's better.  It's a huge rivalry that I don't understand since both of their teams blow asshole.  Both are great schools, but at CSU you don't have to listen to ridiculous hippie/extreme liberal bullshit every time you head to class.  CU isn't that close to the mountains at all anyway so it doesn't really matter, their "freeski club" is a joke.

I can't believe you guys are arguing about football for which school is better, both your teams suck balls. Here is what I think of when I hear CU football, last year when CU beat Oklahoma and everyone went all crazy, I look out my girlfriend's window onto the hill in Boulder and saw some drunk bro, in the middle of streets, throwing up the horns with both hands, dancing around by himself for about 5 minutes, yelling. "we did it". Not to mention it looked like that was the only exercise that kid got since going to college, that still makes me laugh, fucking CU retards.

Oh and from an outsider's perspective, CU is better. They are still in the same tier of schools though. But I also wouldn't waste money going out of state to either school, unless your state schools really suck. I have heard the CU aerospace program is good, but I haven't met anyone in it. But every mediocre school says their "engineering program is great." When have you heard an engineering program is bad? Yea that is great school, but it's engineering program is shit.

On the other side, whenever I met someone from CSU, I automatically think they are dumb. And so far i have always been right. It's like meeting someone with a southern accent, you just know they are going to be pretty stupid. But I am sure there are some out there, somewhere.

So the final score

CU = -15

CSU = -16

You win CU, but your still held within the grasp of mediocrity.


Oh and guy who is touting his CU finance BA. Sweet, that means as much to me as a doctorate from University of Phoenix. Good luck with your 15 failed interviews for a research analyst job.

If you want to advoid people like this, go to CSU.


I have lived in Fort Collins my entire life, and it is a great town.  The people are awesome.  No Douchey Jock types. There is always something going on.  There are 2 small music venues that get great shows(I've seen pepper, aesop rock, MC Chris, atmosphere has played there, etc...)

The town is perfect for biking, pretty much everyone bikes even in the winter.  There are two awesome brewerys (new belgium, odells) that have free tours and samples, as well as 7 others I believe. 

If you are looking for a party school where you can play beer pong every night of the week, and mack on girls with low self esteems, CSU, isnt for you.  But if you want an awesome community that is accepting and chill, no homo, with great weed, hit up fort collins.

If you want busted broads, no drinking and a bunch of chill bros to chill with while your chilling, go chill in Fort Collins.

Still sounds better than C Springs.

haha Im actually proud that I only said chill once... Im over use that word very much.  Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of girls, just not the ungodly ammount CU has. 

Really the only reason I talk so highly of FoCo is because I just moved out and Im having one of those "don't know what you have till its gone moments."  Doesnt matter though, because now I live in Breckenridge, and in no more than 3 weeks, Im going to be loving life!

Honestly, It doesnt matter which town you live in.  They are both very similar.  Just surround yourself with good people no matter where you land, and youll have and enjoyable experience...

Oh and I never actually went to CSU, I'm taking a year off after high school right now.

I didnt read all that shit. but I just came back from a week looking at schools in colorado. Both boulder and fort collins are nice towns. both nice campuses. Fort collins actually has more concerts, events and stuff then boulder and colorado springs combined. So ya both are pretty chill. I saw some hot girls walking around at fort collins two. Little smaller then boulder, little cheaper. I dont really know which one I like better yet.

one thing to keep in mind about the hot chicks. boulder has quite a few, but not a lot of older ones, they are mostly there for their mrs degree. all the boobs in the world can't buy you a brain.

i go to csu and i wouldnt want to be anywhere else.  boulder is cool if your a trust fund hippy and like to sit around talking about how much better you are than anyone else. theres plenty of good looking girls here and plenty of good weed. parties are easy to find and theres more places to eat here than anywhere else. csu is better academcally. on a campus visit to boulder our host straight up told us, unless you want to do aerospace engineering and work for nasa or boeing, go to csu. driving to the mountains only takes about an hour longer. not the biggest issue if you ask me.

haha, im not in favor of either school, i went to CSU and will be transferring since they dont offer the major i want, but what exactly is "shitty" about the academics? the campus isn't shitty at all, though it may not be as pretty as CU, the dorms are much better and the dorm food is loads better. i've noticed that CU people spend a great deal of energy hating on CSU, though you dont see that the other way (other than when it comes to sports, rivalry and all). the main advantages from CU for someone going in undecided, are that it's closer to summit and there is a larger freeskiing community.

NS is obviously not a good venue to discuss two rival schools from a state representing 20% of the sites registered users. It was an easy choice for me (CSU) since the town of FC seemed a good fit, good academic programs, and an overall good vibe. Just do what most people do when researching colleges, check out their academic programs, tuition, and visit the college. I really don't know why there is so much animosity between the two schools, do what makes YOU happy, not what someone from NS says is cool or how good a football team does. College is typically a big deal as far as forming friends, networking, and initiating a career path (or lack thereof). After typing this I am kind of mad for dignifying this thread with the few moments I took to type this out.

And really, learn how to spell "academics" before trying to sell your school as legitimate.
