Download and edit youtube videos?

yea i used searchbar and tried the things that were in other forums but it didn't work for me..
basically i just want to download and edit some youtube videos for this project i have due.. its actually my midterm grade so if anyone can give me some easy steps that would be great..
the internet browsers i have are explorer and safari if that makes any difference.
help me.

ok so your obviously on a mac. download tubesock, sickest program ever just found out about it. Then to edit, go to imovie, and just cut out the parts you want etc.
the thing is the quality of youtube video's is reallly crappy. I made a video, by just taking ski movies and cutting out parts. It takes forever to load them into imovie or whatever. but if its going to be seen on a projector or somethign its worth it

^ i'm actually one a pc.. not a mac and quality doesn't really matter, i'm pretty sure the professor will just see the effort...

I have a firefox add on that lets me take break vids right to WMV, and I can take youtube vids but I have to use a converter to take them from FLV to WMV and those cost money if you want them to convert more than 90 seconds. If someone has a free converter hook me up.

tubesock works for pc to I think. its a pretty cool program.
