im contemplating between the two skis. i live in ontario and wanna get some pow skis for west coast visits. the hellbents seems so much fun to dick around on but im not convinced about there charging abilities. while the args rip i think they must stay in there steep and deep element more. any thoughts?
I've skied both, and own ARGs. Unless you live on the west coast (or Colorado/Utah) or have waaaay too much money to burn, buy Hellbents. Way more versitile. Chances are, you'll have so much fun on them, you'll be tempted to take them out the odd day in onterrible and still have some fun on them. ARGs are for the deep snow only. They aren't really a second ski, they're a third. You still need another fattish ski as well with ARGs. You could get away with having a park ski and hellbents, even in onterrible.
What I did was get a park ski, then got a midfat (Bacons) and this year I got Donner Party's which are similar to ARG's ie, reverse sidecut and rocker.
The Bents will have more rocker but they also have sidecut, which is bad for a pow only ski but will let you ride them on stuff besides pow. ARG's would be hard to ride anywhere but pow because of the reverse sidecut.
its really reverse sidecut vs. regular sidecut, for an ec skier go with the bents because they ski fine out of the pow whereas arg's really don't like being out of pow
get bents. they have more rocker for those odd EC pow days and are softer so they will be more playful. Sense they have side cut you can ski them on normal snow(and you will want to ski them every day, trust me)
really the hellbents are sweet. but the arg is a way more sensible ski for what ur doing. the hellbents really are made fopr big pow days. aNd even if u were coming here all the time , all those days are probably not gunna be powder days. the arg is just way better all around ksi for u. but i love the hell bents. im getting a pair this year. i live in b.c
The EP Pro will be a very very soft ski, and I think it's a bit wider than the bents, but not too much, I dunno about how the rockers compare but I think like 346 kids wanted to know last year so you shoul dbe able to dig up a thread.
I dont know about the ARGs but i own bents and they are insane. they are fun in the park on just about everything, just definatly not on the big jumps( rocker= super flex= backseat land on your ass)
Ya damn, if you had them mounted up with some Look bindings and washed out crooked you'd have a very uncomfortable piece of plastic and metal up your cornhole.
