Hey guys, I will be riding 80% park, 20% all mountain, planning on
going out west for a week this winter and trying to find the right ski. I am 6"2, 170pounds, been skiing since I was 3...(15 years of skiing). Would like something that is playful but still solid on east coast Ice (I live in quebec)
Was hesitating between AR6's, Surface Watch Life or maybe even Chronics.
I will be mounting the skis with 08 Rossignol Scratch 120 bindings.
What does NS think!

yeah ARVs sound like they could be a good choice...its hard to find a good 80% park ski that can still keep up in out west pow...maybe reno rockers too...what kind of park riding do you do mostly?

I already looked at the ARV but I found it a little too wide. I also heard that the ski was very soft. The thing is my friend that I used to always ski park with is gone to study further from home, so my other ski buddies don't ride twins, they are more into trees and steep groomers. I will still be in the park most of the time but need a ski to go all around the mountain.
My main focus for these skis are a "butterable" ski that can still hold and edge on ice. I don't want a ski that would be too wide (92mm is already alot for me) because Powder is scarce in my neck of the woods and I will only be going out west for a couple of days.
I thought of the AR6 because they seemed to have the perfect flex, and the Watch life looks like a good ski that would be a little wider but still handle everywhere.

i would go with the vokl walls becuase theyre durable and great for park but they r a little wider ski which would be good for backcountry also they run for pretty cheap. but good luck

^that makes sense to me, but not really for the reasons he said.
walls are a stiffer flex, symmetrical ski thats still playful. they rip all mountain and rule park. after they break in a bit, they butter quite well, but are really torsionally stiff, which a burly vertical sidewall thats gonna give you the performance and durability you want, while still being great for jibbing.
and no, they arent great in the backcountry. if you go out west, and you get dumped on, demo something fat.
