Looking for an HD camera...

I'm shoppin around for an HD camera for this season preferably under 800. I've looked at a lot of options, specifically the Canon Vixia HV30.
Upon reading reviews, all of these cameras seem pretty ridiculously complex and it's discouraging. I'm a noob with cameras.
I work mostly with the old iMovie, and my comp has 550MB of ram (soon to be wayyyy upgraded)
Suggestions?

Complexity is what you get when you work with technology. Its a fact. The HV30 is the best camera overall under 1000, not even worrying about the fact that its HD. The HV20 is a step down and a bit older but still pretty amazing.

HV30 sound's like the right camera for you. You won't be able to edit HDV footage with only 550 MB of ram. I have 2 GB and i'm thinking about upgrading. 550 seems even a bit low for SD footage. If you end up buying one go to HV20.com. It's a great website for users of HV20 and 30. It explains how to work with the 24 and 30p footage as other cameras.
