Turbo- 4.5 / 5 (Alaska segment is boring as fuck.  but besides that the movie is almost perfect)
Massive- 4 / 5 (craziest steeps ever + Tanner.  but not enough tech jumping/rails)
Claim- 3 / 5 (some stuff that's interesting to watch once, don't think I'd want to watch it again)

Thats it thats all was a 6/5
even though it was a snowboarding movie it was by far the sickest thing ive seen

TURBO by Level 1

This is probably quite like pdragos one and I'm probably also bias toward Level 1 but thats only cos they are the best. Turbo is no exception to the trend of level 1 movies pushing the boundarys of ski film making and evey aspect of the sport, this year there is even a bit of big mountain in there.

The intro is good, it lets you know what to expect from the rest of the film, it's not as exciting as some previous level one intros but it does contain a lot of sweet shots that will get you stoked for the rest of the film.

After the intro you get straight into the real action with Tanner Rainvils section whitch kicks things off with one of the biggest back country jumps you'll see in a ski movie this year. Tanner 540s it-with a double grab. this level of trickery is the norm thoughout tanners section but there is also a fair amount of big mountain and mini golf lines. Tanners song is a reggae one by Sizzla that is quite easy on the ears, still i feel that by using too much slow mo and less actual tricks than usual this isn't as good a section as it could have been.

Following Tanner is the Windells section all shot on a singular jump but featuring some amazing sunset shots and creative tricks. there are three riders in this section, Rainvile whos keeps it steezy and doesn't spin anything over 540 then Henrik Harlut who still keeps it steezy but manages to pull a 14440 at the same time. The third rider is Tom Wallisch, he is my new favorite skier, not to say i didn't think he ruled in the first place but HOLY SHIT!!!! he owns the jump with ten unique tricks in the section all of whitch are amazing, technical and stylish. zero spin. you'll understand when you see it. the song for this section is a french electro song again pretty mellow and nothing anyone should hate with a passion but something some people might love.

Continuing from the Windells session where he left off Tom Wallisch now shows you what he can do on urban, creative park features and evn in the backcountry some thing i was surprised to see in his section. THIS IS THE BEST SECTION EVER. The song is electro again this time by Crystal Castles apparantly chosen cos it sounds like a videogame and Tom is Level 1s videogame skier, it suits the section very well and in my opinion is a kick ass song by a beastin band.

If you've seen Wiley Miller before you probably know what to expect from the next part of the fim and he delivers, huge backcountry jumps of all shapes and sizes, well ranging from big to massive, often landed bacwards and always textbook execution. you also get a surprising amount of big lines in there though, wiley proves there is more to him than just big jumps. the song for this is some guitar based song that sound kind of south american or something, it's not Bad but it's not my thing, this coupled with a lack of variation make this section not one of my favorites.

The Urban section is next staring Ahmet Dadali and Will Weston. They both kill it. There are many tech tricks that i've never seen before in this part and many creative tricks i would never have imagined, if you like watching rails these guys will show you what you want to see. The song for this section is a hip hop beat with a sort of asian feel, it's sound quirky but i think it works out pretty well. if you like rails you'll like this part if not you won't.

Son Real(canadian hiphop, mainly raps about canadian hip hop) is this sound track to the following section witch contains three riders, Liam Downey who puts together a short but sweet and entertaining section that is very well rounded, Corey Vanular who unfortunately got injured very early in the season and only has two tricks that don't really show his real abillity and finally Josh Bibby who does his signature butters in the backcountry amoungst other rad tricks but the section still doesn't show the extent of his abillitys.

Cat skiing is the theme now. Stephan Thomas, Josh Bibby and Tanner Rainvile destroy many mini golf lines and pull tricks in some far out places to the sound of the pet shop boys. the best thing about this section to me his the fact that they have some interviews giving a little insight to what the trip was like and how things go down when your cat skiing. an excelent part if you just love watching powder, posible a little boring if you just want hammers.

Mike Horbeck is better than you'd think. he puts together a banger of a section here and sicks ace tricks eveywhere- park and urban where your used to seeing him but also bc where he surprised me with his abillity to do the same tricks he does in park into pow, just as well. I wasn't expecting this much quality from Hornbeck but i got it and It's good, most of his afterbangs get cut out too so if your not a fan its NBD. the song is hiphop, i like it but i can't remember who it is nor can i describe it, i guess it's not too extreme.

I'm not sure if i've got the order right anymore but i think the park and pipe bit is on after Hornbeck. It's good although it contains someshots where the skier is just too far away and you can't really see the tricks right. there is some ace angles in the pipe though and some inovative styles from skiers Duncan Adams, Justin Dorey, Mike Riddle, Adam Delorm and one shot from superunkown winner Jon Brogan. Level 1 can do better than this but it's still well better than most.

urban section no.2 follows JF Houle, JD Zicat and Paul Bergeton around Qubec, shredding rails and wall rides with some sweet shit like the 450 disaster from the trailer for example.

Another split section follows containing Mike Clarke, Steele Spence and Travis Redd, it's ok, it's got mini golf, pillows, booters and urban but it just doesn't seen as good as the rest of the film dispite having some definetly sweet tricks. i can't remember the music.

Alaska is the penultimate section and it's boring. the song starts out mellow and there is a naritive and it does give a good insight into what it's like going to film AK for the first time then the song works up into something a big more epic sounding and there are some alright lines and a couple of huge hammers from Stephan Tohmas. I'm not usually into the Ak section in films anyway but this isn't as good as most although more interesting.
The final section deservadly goes to Stephan Thomas, it's good but it could be better i feel he has spent to much time this season tring to improve his less good aspects and not filmed enough of what he knows best, still it's sick with big lines, mini golf, bc kickers, cliffs, a little pipe and park all steezy and with Stephans unique style. the song is metal, not total brutal though but not the best either.

The credits movie is good, contains more of Jon Brogan and has some funny clips too. Set to DL Incognitio as this is Level 1 and there hadn't been one his songs yet you should have seen that coming.

I think this isn't the best movie Level 1 have made but it is cetainly worth buying, it's still better than any other companys movies. It contains Tom Wallisch's section and i feel that every skier should see that. Anything i said that sounds negative in anyway is wrong and i don't mean it to be, except the AK bit.

Journal 4.5/5 sick movie. Better than Photoplay and PNW. Charley Ager slays it so much in the BC,lots more urban this year..

Turbo 6/5 UNREAL, You must own this movie. Everyone and I mean everyone in this movie stepped it up. Its banger after banger start to finish. The only weak part was the AK seggy but I expect big things from level 1 next year (first trip to Ak, some injuries) when it comes to AK. Sick soundtrack. Extras are sick check out the windells edit with Wallisch, Harlaut Rainville, And I havent explored any of the hidden extras yet. Well Done Berman, Decker and Coty for putting this together.

So far THE MASSIVE is the winner for me 5/5 great soundtrack, really impressed by the alaskan lines

my question is about Hunting Yeti...is there much new footage or is it pretty much just the same footie from the webisodes?  if they didn't save any shots for the full dvd version then that sucks balls.

Just saw Journal and gotta say it was pretty amazing. Charley Ager is unreal in it, with tricks cork 9s all for 5s, and sw right 7s i don't know if anyone can stick a switch landing like he does. Josh Stack and Brandon Kelly are both underrated too. Wasn't the biggest fan of the movie's music or editing ( i find a lot of the clips cut away too quickly) but the footage makes it a solid purchase.

THAT’S IT, THAT’S ALL =5/5

This is not a snowboardmovie, this is an experience. TITA not only lived up to, but exceeded the hypesurrounding it for the last year, and set an unattainable standard for snowaction movies in the coming seasons. Shot almost entirely from the air with gyro stabilized cameras gives theviewer a weightless feeling as you watch whole mountain follow cams afterfollow cams from never before seen perspectives. Seriously. This, the jumping,and the all around riding equal quite a movie. Travis Rice, not to be outdoneby Muller, Jones, Jackson, or Landvik, is a Manimal. He brings “tree bonking” to a whole new level, along with“off axis maneuvers”, and almost every other aspect of snowboarding andsnowboard cinema. All grounded by Planet Earth caliber scenery, and somequality comic relief. A must see in HD blu-ray.

READY = 4/5

Absinthe Films is myfavorite year after year. They capture the best pow, and the best and mostcreative riding vibe on 16mm film. The only reason this isn’t a perfect scoreis for a few questionably fitting soundtrack selections, as well as bits andpieces of too many riders. Otherwise, another sick, original movie. Gigi Rufagain steals the show, along with Nicolas Muller, and Wolle Nyvelt…highlights:Powder freestyle in Haines, AK…best in years!, Jeremy Jones big mtn, urban jibstyle with Keegan Valaika, well rounded riding in Europe and the Northwest, andfucking EPIC dam slashing with Wolle shot from a manned cable cam. Need to gowatch a few more times for sure!

DOUBLE DECADE = 4/5

Mack Dawg followed up wherethey left off from Picture This with another really well rounded freestylemovie with most of the best guys in snowboarding, to an upbeat soundtrack withseveral recognizable classics thrown in the mix. The Finns: Eero, Eero, Jussi,Heiki, Wille, Ikka, and Lauri bring it hard in this movie: Great urban and parkshots mixed with solid Whistler and Tahoe backcountry jumping. Veterans JPWalker and J-Jones raise the creative urban bar again with wall-to-wallMctwists, fence jibbing, and street gaps, while all-time legend Devun Walsh hasa another dreamy segment, accompanied by a Cardigans song. Lots of other strongsupporting parts as well, and good humor- which is key in my book! And somegood retrospective montages from the previous two decades of snowboardingfootage. The only drawback to the movie is questionable digi image quality fora “pro” production, and lack of big mtn lines. But otherwise a very watchableMDP dvd for your collection.

Burtonhas the best damn team, so making a movie for them could be compared toshooting fish in a barrel. Sick pow and jumping from my favorite guys Gigi,Nicolas, and Fredi K in Austria, Japan, Alaska, Utah, and Switzerland. Nuffsaid. Innovative jibbing by Jones and Valaika, the Japanese Kokubo ridesamazingly strong, and there are some huge park features to boot! This moviealso includes a Southern Hemisphere feature which has more nice New Zealandheli-land shredding. Sweet. The soundtrack is from musical acts of the day.Lots of recognizable songs…Solid flick!EndFragment

claim =3/5 lame. amazing footage and skiers obv.. and the climbing skiing the matterhorn was amazin g but i thought the theme was so gay and really terribly executed.

I got children of winter on my desk... I'll try to watch it and review it tomorrow but I just injured myself so I'm not very amped to watch films.. but will post it up here once I get one up...

Slamina was pretty sick. there was a lot of urban and powder jumps. they had a lot of original stuff.

Why only 3,5/5? What u wrote sounds like it will be better than anomaly and Lost and Found... and freeride segments from those were truly amazing! cant wait to see UTI... cant wait to see seths seggy...

i don't know why you guys are saying Claim sucks because of it's lack of more park skiing and rails. Since when did you expect to see a bunch of rail shots in a MSP video?

Slamina (5/5) -  The entire team absolutely killed it with some great urban shots and sweet BC booters. Looking forward to future 4bi9 movies

Head for the Hills (6/5) - Meathead does it again. Fun to watch and some great East coast skiing. Shea Flynn is friggin hilarious and Will Wesson and Andy Perrys ending part was insane! Totally got me stoked on living on the east coast.

Man.. it was terrible. I lost a bit of respect for Moseley as well cause of it.

turbo - very impressed with this movie, if you like park and urban skiing then GET IT
massive - sick and all kinds of powder, great vibe, gets your stoked, tanner and sean KILL IT
claim - some good segments but i was expecting better. ssd was better.

Rage - Such is Life: 4/5 A good movie full of amazing segments, good mix of big mountain and jibbing, great park segments.
Nimbus - Hunting Yeti: movie: 3/5 decent, could not really hold my attention though. web updates: 5/5
TGR - Under the Influence 4.5/5 I thought the movie was great, amazing skiing. some of the Music kept it from being a 5.
PBP - Reasons: Can't really remember it honestly. but the parts I do remember were good.
Red Bull - The Massive 4/5, Again great skiing, but the pure Cali P soundtrack gets a little old. the editing is decent, but not up there with believe which was 6/5.
NIG - The Motherland 3.5/5, solid parts from Kohl Schoening (including a nice sw 5 on a BC jump), Derek Spong and Andrew Holson. New commer Anders F(cant spell his last name) also held it down. However there seemed to be a lot of less quality filler, which is standard in all AM movies. Overall a good movie easily worth the $12, coming from porbably the least funded group out there. well done.
Theory-3 - Journal: 5/5 best movie I have seen so far. It is worth it just for Charlie Agers part. (as every one keeps saying) the music choice is top notch and the movie just flows. Nice apperence from a Pirate as well. Well ballenced amount of Urban, Big mountain, Park and Powder. empisis on BC powder. Gotta love the canadian accents as well.

agreed, claim was a disapointment, i only have claim, hunting yeti and reasons and for me i thought that hunting yeti was the best, sick skiing, great soundtrack. reasons was good but i found myself loosing intrest through parts of the movie. claim only had a few parts that i enjoyed, push and ssd were better

Reasons was overhyped and while most parts are pretty f-ing sick, there are too many that are slow and boring. Waaayyy too much slo-mo as well. The movie tried to be too influential with values and shit, not enough people killing it although the people that do kill it, absolutely kill it. 3/5
