Rugby?

who gives a fuck. itll be fun.

I am skinny as fuck and i have played a few pick up games and that shit is soo fun but if you big than you should give it a try. Since people who play on an actual team are thick as hell and tackle hard as fuck.

But I know only a little about it

you have backs-the people who run the ball and score trys(a touchdown in rugby)
and the forwards- people who try to fuck up the backs
i might of got that backyards

but you can only pass the ball backwards and when you are tackled you have to set the ball down and have a ruk over you

and when the ball goes outa bounds it sort of a throwin thing..

thats all i got but its funn as hell to play with some friends and if your big and wanna fuck some people up than go for it dude

honestly though man, rugby is one of the best things that ever happened to me. If you play strong safety you likely are fast and agile and can hit hard. Perfect. I too was a football player and wasn't sure whether rugby would be worth my while or not. You have to play.

Its fairly similar to football with the obvious exclusion of the forward pass. It goes a lot quicker and there are less stops in the play. I assume you'd be a back (or maybe a flanker), who are the fast guys who are supposed to score most of the points. The rules are tough to explain, but they're easy to get used to. Just go out and you'll have a blast. Trust me.

i know all the rules, but im too lazy to type them out, theres lots and lots if you wanna explain the game to someone
id just go look it up online if i were you, just google rugby rules, its a pretty basic game, very similar to football

i played rugby growing up as a kid, its like our national game. most americans/canadiians think its crazy because you dont wear protection, so in that respect its rough and makes you hard. its a fun game though and if you like to get fisty then its cool for that too.

dude its so fucking awesome..the guy up there gave u a brief description of the rules, thier kinda complicated but once u play ull never go back. we started our team bout 2 years ago and now were one of the most dominant teams in the state...i guess having a former world cup player as a coach helps a bit

Personally I dislike it greatly... that could be because its NZ's national sport and i dont get along at all well with the rugby playing type people at school... but yeah give it a go

I started to try and explain the rules but theres so many basicaly run the length of the pitch useing either back (the fast runners) play or forward (the big bastards) play or a mix of both + kicking (but that rarely works and is super boreing to watch).  Dont pass the ball forward and get thourghly stuck in. Its a great game i love it. Its not gay at all u get properly stuck in and hammer people. PLAY if you get the chance.

game is fucking amazing, been playing since i was 6 years old. most fun game ever. rules are pretty basic (when compared to football), play doesn't have to stop every 10 seconds to sit around and bullshit for 3 more minutes. some games I've played for 45 min. straight before subbing out. PLAY IT, you'll learn the rules as you go along.

Does your coach know anything about rugby? If so leave it up to him to teach you all this stuff.

Rugby is basically the best 2 things about football: open field running, and open field tackling. SOOOOo fun i wish i woulda played but not really because my ski season woulda been fucked.

same thing happnened here. teams were setup in our area as a highschool league. i had played 2 years before, but everyone else had never played before. it takes learning the rules, and you have to be patient because they wont jump right in and let you play. its not only learning the rules but learning how to tackle, ruck, maul, where you're supposed to be on the field, and running plays. its not that hard to learn tho. i think most people had a ton of fun with it because its a new sport and which they've never done before.


as for playing teams that have experience. well, your first game you guys will suck. flat out. but you'll learn so fast from your mistakes that after playing other teams for a couple weeks you guys will know what you're doing and be able to actually compete against the teams that have experience. its not hard to pickup after a while. i say give it a go. what can you lose? its after ski season so. lots of running gets you into good shape too.


and the guy that posted the 3 videos, all the hard hits from the 2nd one were from rugby league. you will be playing union, which is from the 1st video. its different because league has a tackle count like football where you kick after 5 tackles, 6 turns the ball over, where as union u just keep going. if you need help with rules or ur confused about somthin pm me about it and ill try to explain w/e it is to you.


and on a side note, i just got an email from one of my past coaches about a U19 training session in bennington vt on the 12th of october. basically you go and im assuming they'l split into groups of ability, learn some new things, and afterwords everyone plays a few games. its free, just gotta get there, and im sure itl be a lot of fun. if anyone wants to go pm me and ill get you the forms, as im pretty sure im gonna be there.

well you guys got me fuckin hyped bout this, hah i want to fuck some kids up without pads on real bad. but the only reason im kind of hesitant on it now is cause i reaaaaly dont have that much time that i can put in to it bewtween football, lifting, skiing and the hardest year of highschool academics wise. football already consumes everything in my life, and i really dont room for a sport that requires 2adays, practice for 4 hours everyday, film everyday, team dinners, coach meeting, etc.. so i just gotta figure out how much this will take up

I just started to play this season and so far I love it. I didn't know anything at the start but i'm learning quickly and actually get playing time. I'm not that big of a guy but it's such a motivating sport not to mention fun. I think if you have any background in any type of contact sport, you won't have to make such a big adjustment. If you don't, learn to tackle and be fucking fearless. My coaches and teammates have also helped me a lot, they weren't scornful or mean. DO IT

when you start playing and your team gets good, you're gonna love rugby more than football

anyways other than that, if you're trying out for the team dont worry about the rules and stuff. just make sure you put all your effort into what you do. its all about having the effort and energy to go that extra mile when your body is completely exhausted. work on a lot of cardio because you are definately gonna need it. rugby requires way more cardio than football and my coach would cream your ass if he saw you walking on the field. also, learn to work as a team. the rules of rugby are built against running the whole field by yourself, without teamwork and communication, you're nothing.
