ive been staring at trapper peak for the entire summer looking at all the snow and i have heard numerous stories of people skiing 1300 vertical feet in august so last weekend i made the trek. the trailhead is about a 35 minute drive from hamilton. for those of you who dont know trapper is located south of hamilton it is the highest peak in the bitterroots. once i arrived at the trail head it only took me one hour to get to the bottum of the snow field from there it took about another hour to hike up my line. i got about 1300 verticle in and it was steep as hell. looks like im goin back this weekend
