hello, i have a problem. For the second half of this winter i have been just sucking at skiing. I have lost my 7s and cannot seem to match all of my friends tricks. I've lost all motivation on learning new tricks and cannot concentrate as much as i used to. i don't know why i'm writing all this but maybe someone can give me some hints of why i keep thinking i'm old and washed up. any ideas? thanks....
peace,
scott

seriously leave the park and rip the bumps or stay on the groomers for a while. After a whole day of staying on the groomed trails all I want to do is hit the park at night.

Just rip the mountain up, not all your time should be used in the park. Personally im realizzing that more and more kids seem to be getting better in the air but worse outside the park.

Scott,
I've felt that way before too... For a long time! It started when I disco'd my right shoulder, then one of my ribs, then my left shoulder, then I broke my leg! Needless to say, I couldn't do much during that time, and I really felt old and washed up! Sometimes, I felt like I didn't even want to ski anymore... (tear, sob...)
I've just gotten back on my feet in the last few weeks, and now I'm super stoked on skiing again! The moral of the story is, taking time off from skiing let me know just how much I love it, so maybe you need just a little time off to see what your passions really are... Think about it... Just an idea, but I hope it helps. :)

Yeah stay out of the park the next time you go skiing or don't go skiing at all. Some days I just can't concentrate so I skip the park. By that night I can't wait to go back and do some tricks! The key is time off!

just forget about jumps for awhile. Just do some huge high-speed rippers around the hill, just to change things up a little bit. I barely had time to hit the park this year so when i did, i was totally relaxed because i wasn't expecting much out of myself.

Yeah listen to everyone else go around the mountain not in the park to clear your mind, then go to the park and just go crazy. Also, shut the fuck up mullster.

between racing and coaching if I got like 3 or 4 runs in the park i was stoked... spending time outside of the park is key...that and there is nothing wrong with chillin on the deck and watchin everyone ride... I did that so much this season and i think i actually improved some what... being able to watch everyone and pick up things from them... just go have fun... do what ever u have fun doing cause if ur not hvaing fun then ur just wasting time!!!

The people telling you so stay out of the park may be right.. If you have been skiing a lot, sometimes you start sucking it up because your overskiing. Its a combinations of rest as well as forming bad habits. If this is you take a break from skiing. The other alternative is that you were skiing a lot and then you took a break from it and your rusty so slowly work your way back into the groove.

What I find is stop trying to land a 720. The more you fall on it, the more you will lose confidence, the more you will convince yourself that you cant do it anymore. Try something that you are good at and make it better. Liek work on your 3's, or 5's or maybe grabbing in those spins. I had the exact same problem as you. Lost my 7's and my 9's and I started only doing 180's and 360s for a while. Making sure they were as good as I was ever going to get them. Now I'm doing the same for my 5's and 7's. I havnt even touched my 9's in a long time. Work back up to it, and you'll have em back soon enough, plus wicked style in the rest of your tricks.
