I thought I'd repost my response to the "gays are taking over the world" post. Which I find hateful, ignorant, and especially, dangerous.

This is easily the most hateful thread I have ever seen on NS. My good
friend's brother was beaten within an inch of his live in Boston two
years ago. They followed him after they saw him kissing his boyfriend
goodnight. They yelled faggot and other insults at him and he returned
with the middle finger. This was enough to get the group of 4 guys to
beat the shit out him all the while yelling shit like "fuckin faggot"
and spitting on him. After they knocked him unconscious, they pissed
on his bloodied face.
Don't any of you sheltered 16 yr olds on here try and tell me that
being offended by the word faggot is out of line. And furthermore,
don't try and tell me that gays have had no injustices against them.
How would you like it if somebody told you your entire life is a sin
and you should be killed?

I wholeheartedly agree. people raging about gays acting out just to get attention and shoving it in straight peoples' faces are the same people that would be saying the same tired old shit about black people 50 years ago.
in high school I didn't have any gay friends, but I have 3 in college. for all the high schoolers out there, do yourselves a favor, and drop the word faggot from your vocab. if you don't, you're setting yourself up to embarrass yourself at some point in the future. girls love gay men, and they will think you're a slimy piece of shit if you drop the word faggot around their gay friend.

Its because that whole thread is full of 13 year olds with no concept of tolerance or independent thought.
If anyone did a little research, a little rational thought, and had some basic open-mindedness, the arguments presented by the opposing side would be shattered. But that's not how the world works, and all we can do is humor them until epiphany strikes.

I've just learned to do my own thing and ignore them and let them do theirs. I don't think they should be making out in public, its pretty disgusting, but I'm not going to demean them inadvertently by saying "faggot", its kinda like saying nig, although blacks had it WAY WORSE so if they compare their struggle to what African Americans went through they are way the f out of line.

i give you a lot of props for making this thread. and i completely agree, people dont see gay people as humans, theyre somehow inferior, and it takes the bigger man to stand up and say that everyone is equal.

I posted my argument in the other thread already but I'll give a bit of a cliff's notes thing here
Gays have used the word "faggot" themselves, and it has been used out of context so many times over the past however many years, that it has ceased to become a word for bringing down gay people, like "nigger" and "gay" it has become another part of the long list of words that no longer stay true to their original meaning. Sure, when something like the thread creator's story happens, its wrong, twisted, and horrible, and yes the word "faggot" was used in a derogatory way, but people are getting off track in their arguments. The thread was started because he used the word "faggot" on myspace, not to bring a gay person down, but most likely to jest with his friend, its just like saying "man that game was so gay". You're not saying "that game enjoys the company of other games" because its taken on a completely different meaning.... This came through the over saturation of it in today's society. When you hear those words day in and day out used in a completely unrelated context it desensitizes you to it's meaning and effect on others, so when people start bitching about how these words bring them down and how wrong they are, we should stop saying then it just gets annoying.... In the last thread I also used the Jews as an example, they never call each other "kyke" (sorry if that offends anyone, I'm purely using it as an example) so when someone else calls them that its a much bigger deal. In fact, a lot of kids I know have never even heard of that word, proving my point.
Okay so not really cliff's notes but yeah, thats my opinion
