External HD: USB 2.0 or Firewire?

So I'm looking for an external hard drive for my Mac Book right now, as I've depleted the storage on the 120 GB HD it comes with. I've seen a huge range of prices and storage, all ranging from 500 GB - $349, to 1 TB - $169 at futureshop. I've always found though, that with the cheaper ones with more storage, it almost always has USB 2.0 instead of firewire.
Now I always though firewire would be faster and better suited my needs for video editing to photography etc. etc., but after seeing the ridiculously cheap price of the 1 TB HD I've come to wonder if I needed the extra speed? Does the speed outweigh the storage space? I mean is it really that much faster? What are the pros and cons of both?

if you are going to be dealing with video on your hd then you want to get firewire, believe me dealing with large amounts of video through usb just sucks.

Unless you're editing with footage, get usb. Firewire is soooo nice when editing footage on it etc etc but if you just need to store things USB is fine. But i feel if you filled you 120gb that you film and edit. But i guess i have NO footage on my 120gb HD and its full...

If you can get firewire then do it. There's no reason not to get the better product if you can and are willing to pay for it. The difference in cost is negligible anyway.

Ya I film/edit
and its full even without too much footage on my actual HD, like my itunes itself takes up like 25 GB soo...
right now I'm leaning towards firewire still because of the speed and personally, I don't think I trust a 1TB HD sold for 169?

Since you film/edit definitely go with firewire.
