So I am from Minnesota and I'm really interested in going to college in Colorado. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on a good college out there that is close to some summit county or some other big resort? Thank you SO much to anyone who can give me any information, I really would appreciate it!
Theres the University of Denver which is a pretty expensive school with a really good business program, rarely have friday classes, nice campus, small class sizes, about an hour and a half from the resorts.
And the University of Colorado, Boulder, which is also pretty expensive, much bigger, nice campus as well, more class options, bigger classes, a little over an hour from resorts
Theres CSU which i dont know much about, as well as colorado mines for engineering, and some other smaller schools all over the place.
I go to DU and i love it. got 65 days of skiing last year, I'm from MN too.
damn that sounds pretty sick. thanks! a-crew media eh.... so you know aaron kroeger and cody thornberg probably? what do you do for rides to resorts? like are there shuttles that you take or do you just drive there and stay wit someone for the weekend or what?
CSU (fort collins)- its a city, dont go if you want to be close to skiing its like 2.5 hours
CU (boulder) - cool ass town, big city, and fun place but also far from skiing. close to 2 hours to summit county.
Western state (gunnison)- you are close to crested butte but its in the middle of a small ass town and its cold as shit
fort lewis (durango) - smaller town, pretty touristy with a train and some cool shit. purgatory is 30 mins, wolf creek is 1.5-2 and telluride is 2 hours away.
it really depends on what kind of town you want to live. boulder/ csu are big cities while fort lewis and western are pretty small. or you could even do CMC breck or steamboat if you wanted.
ya, im good friends with both of them. there are enough people with cars that its pretty easy to get rides if you throw gas money. I met 4 people before the ski season that had houses or condos up there too, rich school comes in handy.
colorado mountain college. Basically community college for ski bums. They have ski related classes like resort management, and avy classes. You can also get pre-recs out of the way before going to a larger school while still skiing like every day. Steamboat and dillon campuses have housing, but Breck doesnt, so keep that in mind.
okay ya i've heard of that and those schools don't look that fantastic from the pics online, but i know that's obviously not everything. what do you think is the best option?
Im at western. Cold as fuck at the end of dec and beginning of jan. I wouldnt want to live anywhere else. Crested Butte is the sick nasty of anywhere i've ever skied. I love this valley.
Western State College of Colorado. I go here, 31 miles from Crested Butte, sickest steeps you will find. Chill campus, so much outdoor shit to do. You'll love it.
although keystone and breck park are ill, you can always take a weekend sesh trip out there. CB is so dope man, pow is unreal, and there DC park should be up and coming this year. Vibe of this college is ill man, you wont regret it.
I went to CSU from 2002 to 07. Great school, great town and way cheeper then CU or DU if your out of state but a little more of a drive but i met people with cabins up there so that helped. But enough people ski so you can find rides and I-70 sucks for everyone so it doesnt matter. I skied like 50 time a year. Colorado School of MInes is alright if you like dudes or really want to be an engineer.
