New layout=clogging my cache?

i've noticed that after i leave NS, pages load a bit slower until i empty my cache. does this happen to anyone else? i wish there were a way to go back to the old layout..

i have the connection speed set to the highest it goes. and i can't really see in safari where it says to automatically empty the cache?
