Big mountain twins

i know what size ill ride and all but im looking for some backcountry twins that i could also put apline touring bindings on. i rode legend mythic riders last year and liked them alot for steeps and powder, but i want something that i could ride fakie on and still roll through the park on and not wash out. budget is no concern, but if it helps, i'll be going to school neard crested butte, co. thanks for the help ahead of time.

ps. fairly agressive skier, i already have 2 pairs of park skis so somehting more powder is better, and weight- 150
height- 5'8"
(i figure 170-175cm)

what about obsethed?
and theres alot of tight tree spots out there and i like something i can turn real quick on, i found it hard on the 178 legends just cause the length. if they were the length of my invaders 171 i think they woulda been perfect.

i'd suggest prophet 100's w/ dukes, they'll be the most similar to your mythic's but still give you the option of riding switch. those or bacons, but only take dukes in the park, anything else and you'll blow the binding

You might want to look at rockered skis then, Rockered skis ski like they are much shorter then they really are, while giving you the float of a longer ski. The Slight Rocker on the Obsethed will help them turn easier, for the Obsethed I would suggest the 179, also mounting closer to center will help you turn them quicker as well.  Keep in Mind however that rockered skis do not perform as well on Hard snow or for touring.

If you really liked the Mythic Rider I would look at the Big Trouble, think of it as a slightly wider,twin version of the Mythic Rider with a little more pop.
Other skis that will be similar are the Line Prophet 90 or Moment Tahoe. 

Did you say you wanted to go fatter then the Mythic Riders or not? If you do Look at the Rossi s5, s6, The Dynastar Huge Trouble, the K2 Obsethed, Moment Ruby, Liberty Helix. 

For Rockered Skis (not as good at touring)  you will probably end up going much fatter most rockered skis are 120mm or wider in the waist.

As for AT bindings in the Park, just don't do it. Most are considerably raised off of the ski, Also the switch performance is horrendous on all of them. Many of the Dukes that were broken last year were broken while skiing backwards.

as everyone has said, at bindings in the park are a no go. Even dukes, tons of people have broken them landing switch. If your having a lot of trouble turning the 179s try something rockered maybe. And get better at skiing cause those arent big skis

IMO:

Do not get the motherships. you will be disappointed. They dont feel good or anything, dont look that cool either. sorry to bash you mo'ship lovers, but its not all its cracked up to be. i like the atomic big daddys.

IMO the motherships look pretty dope. Theyre decently stiff, come in a 188 i think it is? Seems like a pretty solid ski and its a twin, good option for someone whos looking for something to charge a little more on but still wants a twin

im the same height as you but i way about 200 pounds and i was looking for a ski with the same expectations as you so i went with the k2 obsethed in the 189. since you only way 150 and u said u had trouble with a 179 i would suggest obsetheds at 179 about 4-6 cm back from center

thats all good stuff thanks. sorry about the jester/jokers thing, not really thinking. i like the rocker idea around a 180cm ski which sounds like a good bet but it think the prophets would be good too. shame that at bindings cant hold up in the park, so i guess if i go at i gotta stick to mountain riding.  any issues with at bindings on rockered skis like the seths?

You should see if you can find a pair of last years or the year befores JP Juliens. I ride them every single day and love them. I think they would be good for you because:

You can get a 178 with a huge tail, they are nice and soft and very light. In other words I think they will give you the stability you want while still being easy to ski.

Also they are very straight, little sidecut , no camber which kicks ass in powder and I would imagine would be great for touring.

You can probably find them cheap. Check 'em out!

the seths arent really rockered, this years obsethed have more rocker but still not a ton. I think that would be a good ski for you. AT bindings are fine on rockered skis, no issues with the obsethed or seths. If you dont do that much touring you could always pick up a pair of treckers.

 Like you said, our shop just got them in today an i was checkin them out, i think they will be good cause the rocker is pretty slight on them like 20 and 10 in the back or something. at bindings are still good for like spins and stuff i would think right? cause ill probably still jump off

well i have seen people eat shit with AT bindings because they come undone while skiing. if your putting ATs on get dukes. the release lever being under your boot means you wont worry about becoming a telli skier mid jump. but they are a little on the heavy side

How can you say that about the Motherships?  LINE just brought them back into their line for this season.  They've been out of the line for the past few years and skis have progressed ever so much since the last pair of Motherships.  The graphics looked pretty sweet to me.  I think an EP Pro would be the way to go though.

you can still drop some cliffs and stuff wtih dukes, but none of them are gonna be great for hitting booters and such. If you really want to be able to hit jumps and stuff on these skis just get treckers. If not then get dukes.
