This year i took a job as a ski instructor in LAKE LOUISE, thinking that perhaps it would be cool. about a week ago i realized that lake Louise has no JUMPS
to me this is a disaster.
to try and clean up this mess i have gotten into i propose to make an out of bounds jump line some where on the MTN. now i have never skied at Lake Louise and have no idea about rules. good places for setup or any of that.
so if any one has any good ideas or suggestions. lay em down. i am starting as one man. i hope i will get the support i need to make a real jump line this year.
first thing i need to know is can i build jumps out of bounds and what happens if i cant and i get cought. \
another thing i am woundering is who knows where we can find a place with at lease 2 good spaces landing and take off sites. any ways i hope that those of us forced into dealing with the problem can resolve it
also to all those who dont have to ski at lake louise all year long. please stay away from here so that it will send the right msg to RCR

that would be tricky. without the proper equipment jumps get worn out pretty quickly. That sounds like allot of work.
Why don't you go teach at Sunshine?

you could probally set up in the bunker/maintenance chute area and get some alright jumps but it would be alot easier to get a job at sunshine. sunshine has a lot more to offer then the lake I find. its closer to banff so you can you dont have to live in lake louise, the snow is better quality, they have a park and better terrain for setting up booters in the back country. granted that lake louise has better terrain in bounds i have always been a sunshine guy, if i was going to make the drive i would just keep going past the lake and head for the horse

Welcome to the crew man, Im heading back to the lake louise snowschool for another winter. If you dont mind BC style setups for jumps there are no worries man, there wont be many massive jumps and they wont be well manicured but as long as you dont build them in dumb places patrol doesnt care, hell patrol builds the nicest jumps of anyone at the lake.
If you want to get into some light touring and OB there is a huge contingent of snowschoolers including myself who are getting more and more into that this year. Its going to be a sick season no doubt. Shoot me a pm, im already in Banff.

your prophetic teachings of jumps OUT OF BOUNDS seems scandalous. This is indeed a controversial issue, everyone knows how dangerous leaving the group is. Sir, you are a mad man.

Well ive made up my mind. I am going to lake Louise. Just cause what i have heard sunshines out of park terrain sucks compaired to Louise.
so i have more questions. Ive noticed that Lake Louise does have jumps, the only problem is that their are rails in the way of them. what happens if i go too fast hit the jump for the rail but over shoot onto the landing of the rail. does that mean i jumped. and if it does mean i jumped what happens to me.
also me going to lake Louise is not to support them. Oh on if any thing it will be for me to just get a leg up and go some where else.
PS if any one wants to go on some small ski tours or trips to revvy i in.
and if any one know where i could set up the jumps that would be good too. the idea here is to set up a line of jumps accessible by chair left that has room for 3 nice jumps, and a hip or two. with 3 jumps and 2 hips , plus their rail park this may not end up being so bad after all

Quote from on of the head patrollers at LL: 'if you dont build jumps in retarded places, they will stay'
They held true to that the whole season, and like i said before, patrol built more jumps than anyone last season. For what its worth, my vote goes to the lake for terrain. If sunshine had their 'zones' open consistently, or at all, they might be a contender. So far they are not.

If louise has ER5, ER6 and Whitehorn 3 open then there is absolutely no competition in terms of terrain with sunshine
sunshine gets more snow though and is fun, I only really like skiing there in the spring or super early
All times are Eastern (-5)
