I dont know if there has been a thread about this yet, but who has and uses the rossi soft boots? Im seriously considering a pair this year because i've had extreme shin damage for as long as i can remember. So, just like say stuff about the boots i guess, good or not, trendy?

Grinding planetary rings would be incredibly difficult, not the least for which because there is no surface per se to slide on, and the collisions of the pieces of asteroid, dust and ice in the ring would make an environment that would not be pleasant. Your blood would first boil in the vacuum of space, leaving you so incapacitated that you could not maintain sufficient balance if there was a surface to grind, and then the temperature would freeze your skin, shatter your eardrums and sever your optical nerves because your watery eyeballs would freeze and then shatter. In the next split second, hundreds of particles of dust, ice and rock smaller than the size of this comma ',' would rip through your ski coat and body, instantly killing you. Your body would then still float about getting cut to shreds by the fragments until it is crushed between two colliding pieces of debris, eg two asteroids within the ring, which would grind your frozen body and regrettably snap your boards, boots and bindings, into dust to float around and become part of the massive debris fields that are the rings of Jupiter.

I wouldnt really go full soft, have you heard about Kneissl Flexon boots, there the type that Morrison uses. You can get them with a soft flex, and they are incredibly light with a heat moliding liner.

yeah, the rossi boots were kinda heavy when i picked them up, but the 1080 boot weighs the same.

I hate it when people assume that 'soft' boots are really soft. cuz there not. depending on which boots you get, they can have a flex index of up to 90. which is just as stiff as the 1080 boot. When they use the term 'soft' they are simply saything that they are comfterble boots that have easy on/exit. the new rossi soft one pro (the one with 4 buckles) skis extreamly wheel, specially if you add on a booster up top. Also look at the salomon eclipse boot, its more of a hybrid of the salomon verse and the salomon x wave series. very nice boot indeed.

vtrider...who's flex index you using? all the companies have different indices. The 1080 boot is a 85, the nordica beast is a 60 (give or take) and the Lange 120 is, you guessed it 120. All have similar flexes (the Lange is stiffer). The flex indices are just relative to the brand.

The rossi soft has too much lateral flex so you lose some control. Lange too make a soft boot and use a normal shell evrywhere except over you foot, giving you more foward flex and you dont lose on control

i used to have these heavy racing boots that i bought used and i just got a pair of salomon verse like a week ago. theyre by far the most confortable boot ive tried and theyre soft but not too soft. id definatly recommend these to anyone looking for a softer boot . and i oly paid 169$ canadian so theyre a cheap alternative to the rossi soft.

Anyone know the flex index of my crossmax 10's? I'm not interested in rossi soft boots or ne thing but do you know if the leather has to be treated for watterproofing or anything like that?

If you get the soft 1 pro and put a booster strap on it, you will not be dissapointed. Like vtrider said. Especially if you have bad shin problems. Most of the rigidity that you need with todays skis is side-to-side in a boot, which all boots have. The rossi soft 1 are not at all too soft to ride park.

Ohh and straitliner, you really dont know your shit. Flex indexs will vary from company to comapany, but not by much, mabey 5 or 10. You say that the beast has a flex of 60, but what your really dont relize is that the W10 has a flex of 60 and looks exactly like the beast, just with out the bells and whistles. Flex index is measured by a machine that you put in the boot. it measures how much force is required to flex the boot a certian distance. The only reason that flex varys from company to company (not very much, but still some) is because each compay uses a differant base line.
just for shits, go try on a Doberman soft. That boot is stiffer then shit, and its not even the stiff boot in the series. If ya can find one, (which you prolly cant) try on a doberman ''brick'' it has a flex index of over 180, which is stiffer then fuckin solid metal practicly.

the flex of the boot all depends on your personal likes and dislikes. one thing to remember....you dont want TOO much flex. the idea of the soft boot originally was for the 'older' skiing public. the idea was then used in the rossi freeride XX for lessining the impact of landings. the general public does not wear/adjust their boots properly as it is also.
the ski boot is the most important part of your equipment.
you can have the best skis in the world, but if your boot sucks, the performance of your equipment goes down.
i have the lange concept- 80flex. i like a somewhat stiffer boot, but this was night and day for me and took a long time to adjust myself to it. with the lower flex, it took alot of adjusting and bootfitting by myself on slow days in my shop to get the right fit and right adjustments, but maintain the flex.
my point is....just know what you are doing, and know what your boot is supposed to feel like before you buy.
really, bootfitting is more technical than the skiing public knows, even people that have been skiing forever. im not saying you guys are stupid by any means....its just goes beyond......
look into custom footbeds too. i'll never ski without them

straightline: nordica beast's are 110-120 by the way, not 65. 65 would be like a pair of vans in your bindings....
