if this is a repost, i apologize....i didn't see anything when i searchbarred it
sooooo i just got my copy of ski racing magazine's 09 buyers guide. and i see this goofy picture of a ski with a hole at the tip. apparently fischer unveiled this "hole ski" for mes slalom skis last year and are now making it available in all of thier race skis. I know im talking about race skis, i still race, don't hate, i just thought it was interesting.....
"the ski has a hole at the tip and a half moon cut out at the tail. These two shapes working together help reduce the vibration of the ski by 25 percent. Along with vibration reduction, Fischer has taken wieght from the extremities of the ski and refocused underfoot. This provides improved swing wieght for faster transition edge-to-edge. It also gives you more power and better grip"
I also heard somewhere that a long time ago another company tried to do this with thier skis as well.
so what do you think? is it bogus? or is it a good idea? has anyone experiences skiing on them?? do you think more companies will start doing this? will it go beyond race skis?
i'll try to find some pics
discuss.....
