A 27.5 and a 27.0 IS the same boot!

Sooo i was reading a thread and someone was bummed cause a boot was a 27.5 and not a 27.0 and i was wondering if everyone else thought that a 27.5 and a 27.0 is a totally different boot.  but...

just so you know a 27.5 and a 27.0 is the exact same boot.  the shell is the same size and same with the liner. the only difference is the footbed/insole is a little thicker in a 27.5 compared to a 27.0... i learned this secret of the ski industry when working at a ski shop sooo hope that helps some ppl that are boot shopping!  laterrr

It isnt a secret at all. It is how they help keep the cost down to the consumer. It is expensive and time consuming to make boots, so if you have a last for every half size, the price would literally be double to produce the same amounts of boots. Its cheaper to make liners with more material to make up the size difference.

i know its not a secret but obviously this was not known to everyone when i was looking at threads on boots so i just wanted to see if ppl knew or not...

and one more thing you should replace the shitty things that the ski companies call footbeds that come stock in boots and replace them with a footbed made for skiing.  you can pick one up for about thirty bucks and it is well worth it compared to the crap footbed that comes stock. a footbed will make your boots more comfortable, eliminate hot spots, and make the boots perform better.

and by the way, you got that wrong. the thicker insole is in the 27 not the 27.5. how would having a bigger insole in the bottom of the boots make sense to make it fit bigger? it wouldnt...

otherwise you are correct my friend. the liner on the 27.5 is a little more blown out i believe depending on the company. i may be wrong though

But be careful because some companies actually switch shells on the even size while others switch on the odd.  So company a might use the same shell for a 27 and 27.5 while company b uses the same shell for a 26.5 and a 27.  So the difference between a 27 and 27.5 could be significant depending on the manufacturer.

im pretty sure that with dalbello and nordica they are the same shells with different sized liners. i still have no complaints with my rampages and i hope to never part with them

haha if you look at the bottom of boots they usually say 27.0 and 27.5 captain odvious

Not in all cases.

There can be variations in bootboard, liner or footbed - depending on the company and boot

Don't you get the point of the thread, no companies do, you have to start buying Nike Dunks and strap them in to your bindings otherwise you might get hurt from non-legit boots.

And to the guy who said buy $30 footbeds, that is a bad idea, get custom ones, they retail at $100+ and are well worth the cost.  Well I suppose $30 ones are better than stock if you are on a budget.

Salomon changes only the liner thickness. Everyone else changes only the insole thickness.

it depends on the company, some companies use the half size and the next half up as the same shell size, i'm pretty sure in scarpa it's 27.5 and 28 are the same size or something weird, what i do is just transfer my liners between shells so it doesn't matter if i have a 27 or 27.5
