I can almost guarantee it won't, it will price itself out of the market, it will offer nothing like the flexibility of an slr, and as far as lenses are concerned.... it will however be a nice feature,
I do see this the direction of photography, I think eventually this will be the case, but I don't think RED is the company to do it... The big Guns, Cannon, Sony & Nikon, will start making slr's with advanced video features, and Video camera with advanced SLR features, then the two will end up merging and you will have all-in-one units.

If the RED scarlet hits its price point with the capablilties its suposed to have it will take over the Prosumer Market. In video the RED one is an awesome unit the main issue is that all of the accessories are insanly expensive.

As soon as the new Nikon D90 was announced, here comes RED announcing that they are doing the same. Unless you're making feature films or doing commercial work, RED cams, at this moment, are not user friendly, and you basically need a full crew to shoot with one well.
I'll take the new HPX170 with the new letus ultimate over a RED cam any day. Not worth the massive work flow headache that comes with their products. Maybe that will change with the Scarlet and this new dslr camera they're making. We'll see.

Yea thats definatly a nice camera but the steady state recording set up was just out of my price range so i ended up with the Canon XH A1 which is amazing i love that thing. The color and clarity is just imperssive.

I agree but personally I think the idea of being able to record more than 720p with a 35mm equivalent DOF would be ungodly.
Plus every digital video camera out right now has shitty cosmetic design. RED cams have customizable handles and whatnot. SICK!

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in what RED comes out with for their DSLR, but it just seems like they are trying to do to much at once. They've only released one camera, which is still pretty buggy, and they have 3 more new cameras on the way, just seems like they're moving to fast. Hopefully they prove me wrong and put out products that work they way they should.
