Fisheye?

I have a Gl2 and i am going to purchase a fisheye before this season.

should i opt for a century optics lense aka the death

or get a raynox

and if anyone has experience with a raynox how is the quality??

yeah i think fisheyes look stupid for skiing id way rather see shots without them.

Fisheye has its place. It just gets bad when it is over used. i used a raynox with my GL2 and it worked well never used the death lense before so i cant compair.

On my gl-2 I have the raynox mx3000 .3x semi fisheye and I love it. You don't get vignetting unless you are using filters unfortunately. You obvisouly can't zoom very far without the lens going out of focus so you have to be careful there. It works very well and makes your view very very large

he dident ask you if you liked them or not asshole, maybe he likes them....i am not personally a huge fan but i still have one that i will put on every once in awhile.

I have the raynox, its not the greatest quality, but i used it on my old GL2 and i liked it.....its a pretty solid lens for the price.

also, dollies are cool and all but you are following a huge trend in skate filming just like fisheye was...

Dollies are a trend in skating? Have you ever seen a Hollywood movie? I think they're more than a "trend." More like a standard.

and fisheyes just make tiny tricks look less small and shittier. I got a semi-fish and it was nice for skating and crap but when I tried to film a 70 ft backcountry jump, the skier looked WAY too far away and it was just plain bunk.

Go wide angle.

The best time to use a fisheye in my opinion is when you do a side by side follow cam. You can get close to the skier keep him in frame easier and it also reduces the shake you get by a ton.

Whatever you get, try to get something with little to non vignetting. I want to puke every time i see some edit of a follow cam and there is a circle within what should be a square shot. I'd rather have a close tight shot or a distant tripod shot ANY day. Wide angle lense will more than likely have less vignetting than a fisheye. And spend money on it, a cheap lens is a shitty lens, so don't be afraid to drop some cash on it, it will be worth it.

What's a good tripod for the money because i have a crappy one from bestbuy that shakes when i manually focus my camera

should i get a bogen/manfrotto?

other suggestions would be apreciated

if you want to get a fisheye, get one! don't let haters talk you out of it. It's all about your vision, not anyone elses.

but as far as tripods go, the 501 seems popular.
