Its not that I think that dumonts Front-misty is a cool thing, but hey, why the hell does mik complain about that stuff, he schould see his own rodeo at 8:46 - thats fuckn arial as well. It might be that he was on the top of his game a few years ago, and still a damn good skier, but he is definitely not somebody that is progressing the sport in ANY direction, just because he does rightside 180´s and no-grab rodeos.
it was rumored that he was going to do it at Big Air in the 2nd round, but didn't beat Jon so we never saw it. (however he did it in practice and they ended up showing it during a promo before a commercial break)
Yeah but it looks like shit. All of simon's other stuff is really ill, but that front-full (it's actually a gymnastics trick he's doing) looks almost aerialistic to me. If he is throwing a front-misty 7 he should throw a front-misty 7. His misty 7's are soooo smooth, all he has to do is hit up the water ramps and add a true misty 7 in and itll look good.
a. mikael was the creator (or the one who brought it back from andy woods) of spin to win....us open switch 10
b. mikael is hating on simons tricks which seem to be alot smoother than his 180s and 540s in that video. at least bring back the steeze for your interview.
c. i do agree with mikael completely
quit hating.. judging from that interview mikeal knows what is up. You can't dispute that first rodeo japan so epic. I agree with him skiing is going in the a very wrong direction. peace
no disrespect to what he s doing, but he just sounding like an idiot withou even having style on his 180s n 540s. And charles switch 7 octo is way sick, he has no right to hate on that
comparing andy woods to mikael is like comparing apples to grenades, both items are round but functionally uncomparable. i couldn't agree more with mick about the direction of our sport. above all else; the most important thing to be doing is to have fun on skis. when dash first blew up, he wouldn't spin anything over 5 until he felt he had mastered every direction, rotation, or variation. That is progression. i challenge everyone to try and just do all four variations(or more if you create one) of 180 in a whole day of riding, it's some of the most fun i've ever had. max
I'd like to see some of his right side spins cause judging by this video he can't even spin leftside anymore. And I liked his comment about how skiing should progress towards 180s in both directions and spinning in both directions. No offence but you kinda missed the boat on that one back to back 10s are becoming common in slopestyle contests and unnatural 9 is pretty much essential to a good pipe run these days.
Not trying to hate on Mik, but damn it was hard not to find that entire interview amusing
i actually think mik comes off pretty well in that interview since normally all i see are his retarded 9thward photos (hes not from new orleans and probably has never been there). I thought he made some pretty good, clear points and didn't try to put on any fronts. My view of him definitely improved after this interview
Is it just me or has his ability to speak digressed since this video came out?
Anyway, i am so split on this issue, because on one side I totally agree about keeping the sport styley, but I hate the idea that that the sport could be going the wrong way. It's an individual sport, it is what you make of it, so even if everyone else is doing doubles, you can go technical and still have a good time. I think it's kind of immature to act as if people are doing something differently than you it means that it is going in the wrong way, it's not like skiing has one way it can go, you can go all sorts of ways, why not explore all possible routes?

Do some research before you talk shit. he wasn't born in new orleans, but lived there (in 9th ward) with campbell mckeogh, the ninthward founder after he moved from switzerland at age 14... that means he spent the years that forms your the most in NINTHWARD
I have a lot of respect for Mik D, he's done alot for the sport, but strangely enough, if you look at the Dumont video, he does all the things Mik is talking about. He does 180's both ways and stylie 3's and 5's, so if you think about it, he progresses the sport in both the direction Mik think is the right one, and in the one that Mik thinks is the wrong one. Seems a little bit like Mik didn't do he's homework before this interview.
