I've seen a lot of threads about getting busted. here's my story.
it was the very last night of freshman year in college. me and 3 friends smoked one bowl cause that was all we had left. then I went outside the dorm to chat with people for an hour. I came back and saw 2 cops in my room.
they immediately made a b-line for the lockbox on my desk. here's some background info on that. I never kept anything illegal in my lockbox. only money, and the adderall I have a prescription for because my roommate was stealing it. I said they could search it, cause if I declined, they would just go to judicial and get an order that would allow them to do it, and it would just piss them off.
inside was a bowl that wasn't even mine. it was my friends. I got a citation and they said since I cooperated they wouldn't make me spend a night in jail.
I later found out that my roommate got advance warning that an RA called the cops because she smelled smoke. instead of leaving the room and locking the door, as my good friend had suggested over the phone, he said "nahh dude I'm gonna tough it out." more background info: me and my roommate were friends, he innitially invited me to live with him cause I was in a triple. this type of behavior is right up his alley; you see, he was on probation at the time and couldn't smoke, so he came to look down on it, even though before he smoked multiple times per day.
so anyways "nahh dude I'm gonna tough it out" translates to him taking the bowl and putting it in my lockbox on my desk, and then surfing the net until the cops came.
I was currently on a year unsupervised probation for trespassing. the legal fees were over 2k because I had to work out a pretty complex deal to avoid any charges going on my record. I also had to take a semester off school and do an intensive substance abuse program that lasted 3 months and involved 32 1 hour meetings, 76 AA meetings, and weekly drug testing.
getting busted is not getting your weed taken away. in fact, I would actually say more accurately that I didn't even get busted, cause in my mind, its when you get hauled into jail in cuffs and have to sit in a cell. which also happened to me for the trespassing, after a 3 hour ordeal that involved a helicopter and six squad cars, but thats another story.
so what about my roommate? well obviously I'm not friends with him anymore, and I never confronted him about the issue. in fact, I'm no longer friends with almost all my friends from freshman year, cause they are friends of his. hopefully karma will get him. by the way, I didnt post this for sympathy, I don't give a shit whether you think I deserved this or not. I probably did, it helped me straighten up a lot.
