Picking a college major

anyone else have this problem?

i'm going into my third year at a community college.  my gpa is a 3.6, i got a 30 on the ACT, but i have no idea what i want to do with my life.  i feel like i'm forcing myself to pick something and i'm going to end up hating it.  so i don't want to put the time/money/effort in.

at the same time i feel like i'm falling behind all of my friends. it sucks.

go to a liberal arts school and take a wide range of classes to see what you like. do what you're interested in

I'm doing exercise and sports science, it's super interesting to me the way the body works athletically, and how we can max out it's full potential in an athletic situation.

you really should consider taking time off. i took this last year off and it helped alot deciding what i want to do with my life. i still am not sure at all but i do know what i dont want to be doing

i am currently in the same boat, so thats why i am in as "undecided major" which lets me pick from a wide variety of courses

Never had that problem... but try thinking of your favourite subject and then specializing a bit more in that area maybe?
if you have an idea of what faculty you'd like to study in... science, arts, hkin, etc... then pick your favourite subject and take courses that might interest you in that department.
alternatively, maybe see an academic advisor.

I would take some time off then man, think about it for a long time then go back and do it, the worst thing is to take a bunch of classes then you switch up your major and you've taken all these hard ass classes that you didn't have too.

Yeah he really should consider it.  It leaves pretty much any option open for your masters if you have an engineering undergrad

'm about to graduate ( a semester late) so most of my friends have already graduated and got jobs. Believe me (if you want) your major is not suuuuuper important. i mean it would be a bit easier to get a job in your major, but alot of people dont. My roommate was a history major and is now a financial advisor, (1 example). By all means do a little research to find out what interests you but most employers want to know if you know how to learn........

whatever you do just make sure it's something that interests you don't pick something and be like "well shit whatever this will make me a lot of money atleast."  usually things don't work out that way cause you're doing something you arn't interested in you end up as one of those people that wakes up every day going fuck i have to go to this shitty job again...

other suggestions? i enjoy science and computers but i'm not a fan of chemistry or math...

i used to be interested in video but it looks like there is no money in it.

do what you love. if you search hard enough there is pretty much always a job that will satisfy you, unless all you care about is money.

I've always known that I was gonna be a computer engineer. 3rd year into my classes, and I love it more than ever. It's hard stuff but I'm interested in what I'm doing, so it's not so bad.

Moral: Pick something that you've always had an interest in. It will make the classes better.

Honestly, you should go with what you enjoy the most, a far majority of people in the workforce do something that is generally unrelated to their specific major. Companies are looking to see that you can start a task and finish it in a timley manner and maintain good grades along the way. You will be fine with whatever you pick, just make sure you enjoy it!
