the gen 1 iphone is a lot better than the 3g. depends on what you use it for. Media and music? sure iphone is cool. Im not trying to bash on it too much. Want good batt life and good reception? stay away from iphone.

blackberry data plan is the same cost of the new iphone 3g. there both $30 a month for unlimited data, wanna add text, there both 20 for unlimited. its the same cost down to the T. The blackberry curve is $199 with a $100 rebate and the bb pearl is 179 with a $40rebate. thats cheaper than the iphone.

What about if you're upgrading your phone, and just renewing a contract. I get an upgrade in march and i'm on the verizon family plan. just for using the blackberry its $30 more a month?

PIN messaging. pretty much anyone who has money, or cares to get a nice phone where I live(toronto) has a blackberry. On top of that you can use live messenger, google talk with other people who have phones that support it.
I still use SMS but no more than 30 texts a month.
