did anyone else think that hot lunch captured all the best parts of of skiing. goofing off with friends, building wierd jibs, long car rides in packed cars, skiing at different mountains. its all there. i just wanted to give my props to the joystick crew
the thing thats so sick about the movie is that it wasnt a film trip, it was a trip being filmed....(or at least i think.) So it just caught the essence of skiing, which i think 99% of all of us all have experienced some of that stuff goin on on that trip when we travel with a bunch of ski buddys.
sick movie but i watched the whole thing and didn't see one single blake nyman switch cork seven to the bottom of the landing off a park jump in the whole movie. his and mik's are easily the sickest.
Yes its free, but seriously, no other movie this year (and since a long time) has put such a sick vibe that shows another side of skiing. It really makes me miss snow for the good reasons.
i have a feeling most of the movies this season are going to be energetic and fun too...because i think they figured out that it's what we want. like hunting yeti.
meh, it was ok, way too much hype for what it was, though cool idea and im always up for free entertainment, i am really excited for outdoor education, when's that one dropping?
i find it funny how 98% of newschoolers love the film and everything about it and yet for some reason they cant over the fact that people are skiing in it with fitted pants.
i'm insulted by joystick. just because they've discovered an urban, hipster aesthetic, doesn't mean it makes up for lackluster skiing. blake nyman is a perfect example. without the tight pants, he would be nobody. joystick=style>substance. seriously, take away the tight pants, and what remains? the hound's-tooth croc's are the smoking gun.
i see what youre saying but i disagree. Mr. Nyman has been ahead of the game skiing wise for the past 4 years. watch this and notice his nose tail butter, his immaculate shifties, his forward nosepress and bonking stuff before we even said bonk.
now with the following video i'd like you to tell me he cant ski practically anything and still be stylish as fuck whether hes wearing fitted pants or not.
and as for Mr. Seldin, watch this video, ALL OF IT, and realize you are making a good point, but one that can be taken both ways. no homo.
I think the whole point of joystick taking the urban hipster look over good skiing is killed by the mammoth segment where they had guys like chris benchetler throwin down.
I think if they called it an edit, which it really is, a lot less people would be so stoked about it. Don't get me wrong.. I loved the vibe and it got me stoked to ski... but it's hardly groundbreaking. There are so many fun edits out there and people are just making it out as if Joystick are the first people in a long while to do it.
Your a joke, skiing is an art, if they are expressing style then that is part of it. Blake would still be a good skier if he didnt wear tight pants, and joystick sponsors more then just tight pants kids so you should shut the fuck up before you dis a ski company made by a skier. You dont know shit.
The "urban, hipster aesthetic" has nothing to do with it. In fact the tight pants kind of annoyed me. The movie is awesome because it's super innovative and creative and has a fun, energetic feel to it. Don't get me wrong, I love the edits that have been coming out recently, but in general it's switch-ups and pretzels and 450 outs and that's it. This has crazy fucking nose butters (and tail butters!?), sick hand drags, weird little jibs, interesting stuff on to rails... it was just different and fun and made me super stoked to go ski with my buddies.
I got that shit on my freeskier podcast. I started watching thinking it was a trailer, and was so incredibly joyfully suprised to see the whole thing. So stoked on it. They are such good skiers, when they dick around on the slopes its the sickest thing since backflips. Short but so damn sweet. Props to all the skiers in that movie, you guys know exactly what skiing is about.
ok ok but heres this. if we perfectionicate the culturalistic evidentiaries for the formalities of the purgatorinstrativness, we find that compoundralists cannot dwell on fururalisticness of the modern day doo hickeys and whirlygigs. ya see that? ya we can use big words too ya jerk.
