My stupid fucking Kenyan profesor assigns 70 math problems after every class (4 days a week) and its always shit we haven't learned yet... for homework he makes us read a new chapter, then do 70 problems related to the new chapter we just read and self taught ourselves about. /rant

I don't care how shitty you think I am at math, but I can't figuire this out.

"A bank has loaned out $500,000, part of it at 6% annum and the rest of it at 11% annum. If the bank receives $43,750 in interest each year, how much was loaned at 6%?"

Please show all work.

ok here goes

facts:
6% of 500,000 = 30,000
11% of 500,000 = 55,000
43,750 = 8.75% of 500,000

solution:
you take what you know and make an equation. i used Y and M as the unknown variables

(6% x Y) + (11% x M) = 43,750
Y+M=500,000
Y=(500,000 - M)

then solve:

[6% x (500,000 - M)] + (11% x M) = 43,750
[.06 x (500,000 - M)] + (.11 x M) = 43,750
30,000 - .06M + .11M = 43,750
-30,000         -30,000
_______________________________________
        1   x .05M = 13,750   x 1
______      _____             _____
     .05           1                     .05

M= 13,750/.05
M=275,000

Y= 500,000 - 275,000
Y= 225,000

Therefore, 225,000 is loaned out at 6 % and 275,000 is loaned out at 11%

haha yea im around! i dont know how good at clac i would be. but if i can help i will! i love math! i love a challenge...and this was fun b/c it was a challenge! i havnt taken a math class in 5 years! but i miss it....

I'm actually IN business and I can 100% surely say that you would never need this cause it would never happen. It's fuckin stupid, it is unrealistic and is never 100% correct. stupid math like that just pisses me off
