Anyone know snowmachines?

hey i have a 1996 yamaha v-max 600 that im ficing up for the winter im wondering if i can make my own bar risers with like a piece of metal and a drill press and save a hundred bucks if so how big and what material and whatever +++++++karma for everyone THANKS NS

hmm well from past experiences when trying to jimmy rig shit to save money it just would have been easier and in the long run cheaper just to get the proper part that i needed but it sounds like you know your stuff and what your thinkin about is a sound idea.

My home depot here doesnt sell raw alum, but there should be some shops around your area that sells chunks

About a sq foot of 6061 t6, at an inch thick is around 112 bucks, but thats a pretty good grade, other wise its about 60$

Yes you can do it, although only to a certain point.  It depends on how much you want to rise it.  After about 2'' the control cables (throttle, hand grips, etc.) become too short, so it will require longer cables.  If you have the ability to do it, go for it you can save some $$.
